Tablet computer lenovo ideatab s5000 specifications. Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 - Specifications. Bluetooth is a standard for secure wireless data transfer between different types of devices over short distances.

No matter how many large, full-size tablets have been released to the computer equipment market, compact tablet PCs have been and remain the most in demand. This is explained quite simply, because for most users a tablet is an opportunity to pass their leisure time, that is, its mobility is important. Of course, tablets with a diagonal of 10 inches or more in this regard noticeably lose to their counterparts.

AT this review we are talking about a fairly compact 7-inch model Lenovo Idea Tab S5000, which will definitely appeal to connoisseurs of stylish gadgets. In addition to a pretty outer shell, the inner content is also pleasing: of course, this gadget is not designed for powerful tasks, but it can handle everyday tasks with brilliance!

Design

As the material of the tablet, the manufacturer limited himself to plastic, however, it is involved in the design in different variations. For example, back cover gray color has a matte rough surface, which is very convenient for use. In its lower part there is a black mirror insert, of course, also plastic. In the middle of the lid, you can see the Lenovo logo, and in the upper left corner - the rear webcam.

The mirror insert is also visible in front of the gadget: it is a kind of edging, which is somewhat more expanded at the bottom of the device. At the top and on the side faces, it is seen as a thin strip. There is also a corporate logo of the company, located directly below the screen. There are no physical keys on the front of the tablet, but there is a speaker, a front webcam lens and an ambient light sensor above the display.

Given the heterogeneous design of the device, which completely distracts all the attention, it seems difficult to determine the dimensions of the gadget by eye. However, the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 is 0.8 cm thick and 19 cm and 12 cm long and wide, respectively. Weight is 246 g.

Display, sound and webcam

The screen of the tablet is very compact - 7-inch, its resolution is 1280 by 800 pixels with a density of 215 ppi, the matrix type is IPS. These are fairly standard figures for a tablet PC of this form factor, they cannot be called ideal, but, in general, they are quite good. There is an oleophobic coating on the display, which should protect it from fingerprints that leave greasy marks and dirt.

The visibility of the screen is good, inherent in the IPS-matrix. According to the manufacturer, the viewing angles of the tablet are 178 degrees. Thus, several people can easily enjoy the movie, view Internet resources at the same time. By the way, the multi-touch function is also present, the screen supports up to five touches at a time. It is worth adding that the display is quite bright and contrasting, the image on it looks realistic.

The speaker in the IdeaTab S5000 is one, and it is located above the display near the webcam. You should not expect a miracle from him: the sound is standard, but enough to play something, especially if you connect headphones. But there are two cameras, while the front one is limited to a resolution of 1.6 megapixels, and the rear one - 5 megapixels. At the same time, the main one boasts autofocus, but there is no flash here. The purpose of these cameras is known to everyone: the front camera is used exclusively for video communication, and the rear one is useful if you need to take a picture of something. It is clear that with such a small resolution to rely on high quality pictures are not required.

Keyboard

There is not much to say about the keyboard in the tablet, because it is not physical, and we cannot feel it. But there is virtual keyboard, which is an invariable attribute of any tablet PC. It appears on the display as soon as it is necessary to enter, for example, a word in search string or post on social media.

So, here is the standard Android keyboard. Its interface is very convenient and understandable, if desired, you can change various parameters, such as language. In general, even those who have never worked with this operating system, make friends with the keyboard instantly!

Performance

We have Android 4.2 as a preinstalled OS, while the manufacturer promises that the system will immediately be updated to version 4.3. The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-F bundle includes a MediaTek MT8125 quad-core processor based on ARM Cortex-A7 with an operating frequency of 1.2 GHz. By the way, this SoC is equipped mainly with low-end tablet models. There is another bundle - Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-H, which has a slightly stronger processor - MediaTek MT8389. In addition to this feature, this modification is equipped with a 3G module.

The graphics card is PowerVR SGX544. It can encode and decode video, supports DirectX 9, OpenGL 2.1, OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0, OpenVG 1.1 and OpenCL 1.1.

There are no options for choosing the amount of RAM and internal memory, you will have to be content with what Lenovo engineers have laid down. And they offer potential users 1 GB random access memory standard LP DDR2 and 16 GB of flash memory, of which part will go under the system, and 13 GB can be used. Unfortunately, memory cards are not provided, and therefore it will not work to expand the capacity of the built-in memory.

Ports and communications

The interfaces are placed on almost all sides of the tablet PC, except for the left one, which may not seem quite rational to users.
The left side of the tablet is not equipped with any interfaces.

But on the right there is a volume rocker and a button to turn on the gadget.

At the top, the manufacturer limited itself to only a headphone jack.

On the bottom end you can see Micro-USB / OTG in the center, and next to it is the built-in microphone.

The configurations of this tablet PC differ, first of all, in the presence of a 3G module in one of them. In the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-F model we are describing, this feature is optional. In addition, without fail, each of them has built-in wireless communications Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11n, as well as a GPS navigator.

Battery

The tablet has a lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 3450 mAh. Based on the manufacturer's assurances, this battery allows you to operate the device for at least 8 hours with Wi-Fi turned on. And the engineers were right, indeed, the gadget is able to work for about 8 hours of web surfing and about 6 hours of watching movies. Even under load at 100% display brightness, the battery will be discharged no sooner than after 4 hours. We conclude that this tablet PC is incredibly mobile and ideal for travel.

Conclusion

The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 tablet is just a godsend for anyone who is looking for a compact gadget in order to have fun and productively spend free time. Yes, it has a plastic case, but this also has its advantages: it is light and far from the most expensive on the tablet market (on average, $290). In addition, it has a nice looking design and will definitely not go unnoticed by others, especially since there is an opportunity to purchase the same model, but with 3G.

The display of the tablet, although it does not have a phenomenal resolution, is enough for 7 inches of what is. In addition, the IPS matrix will delight the user with good viewing angles. The filling of the device is enough to solve everyday tasks, as well as for many modern games. A rather significant disadvantage is only one thing - it is impossible to increase the memory storage due to the lack of a slot for memory cards.

In general, the tablet turned out to be successful, and therefore we advise you to take a closer look at it to everyone who is this moment is in search of a quality device.

The company has been on the market for a long time. It cannot be called completely Chinese, because it was formed as a result of the merger of the Chinese Legend Holdings and the American IBM Personal Systems Group. Now Lenovo successfully produces computer hardware various types including portable devices. As a rule, its products are distinguished by unique features that favorably distinguish them from competing solutions.

advertising

In addition to desktops, laptops and Lenovo smartphones offers two main lines of tablets. The Think series devices are designed for business, while the Idea-branded models are more focused on multimedia use.

Thus, the S series tablets are positioned as advanced stylish devices based on the operating system. Android systems. Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-H is a seven-inch thin, light and powerful enough tablet, the design of which repeats the company's smartphones.

In fact, we have before us an inexpensive mid-ranger, which should be of interest to its appearance, ease of use and peppy hardware and software stuffing.

advertising

On the other hand, there are a sufficient number of similar devices from different manufacturers on sale. The compact S5000-H will be on a par with ASUS Nexus 7, LG G Pad, samsung galaxy Tab 3 and others. Lesser-known companies can also offer their own options, including Huawei MediaPad 7 Classic, Wexler TAB 7t and others. So the IdeaTab S5000-H is not alone in this regard. And those Lenovo engineers have a harder time - against the backdrop of all the diversity, they must show something interesting.

We'll talk more about the alternatives later, but for now let's move on to reviewing the hero of the review. The IdeaTab S5000 comes in two versions: Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi/3G. The last one arrived for testing. Both versions are equipped with 16 GB of permanent memory and are available in silver and black. The option with only Wi-Fi will cost about 10 thousand rubles, and for the presence of 3G you will have to pay about 2 thousand more.

Tablets with a screen diagonal of 7 inches are not unreasonably considered the most popular devices in their class. That is why, in order to stand out from the competition, manufacturers have to go in three main ways - to offer an original design, unique functionality, or radically reduce the cost. Hero of our today Lenovo review IdeaTab S5000 belongs to the devices of the first type, since it is the design that is its main weapon in the fight for the attention of potential buyers. However, and specifications this tablet can not be called too weak, as it is equipped with an IPS-matrix, a Mediatek quad-core processor, a GPS receiver and an optional 3G module.

The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 tablet is packaged in a silver-white cardboard box with accompanying documentation and a network adapter at the bottom. Charger 7.5W with detachable USB/micro-USB cable.

A mysterious recycled cardboard construction that at first glance appears to be a simple charging tray can actually also be used as a makeshift tablet stand.

Design

The seven-inch model Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 looks much more compact than most of its classmates. A similar effect is created by the silver-black design of the front panel, the minimum width of the screen bezel and the characteristic shape of the body, which hides its true thickness. Eventually, dimensions devices are 116 by 191 mm, thickness - 7.9 mm, and weight does not exceed 250 grams.

The front panel of the tablet is bordered around the entire perimeter with a thin insert made of mirror silver plastic “under the metal”, which noticeably expands in the area of the bottom edge. Under the screen, only the manufacturer's logo is applied, but above the screen you can find not only a 1.6 megapixel webcam, but also a light sensor, as well as a single speaker hidden under a mesh grille.

Most of the back panel of the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 is made of silvery plastic with a fine texture, and only at its very bottom there is a “metal-like” mirror insert. In the center of the back there is an embossed company logo, in the upper right corner there is a large 5 megapixel main camera lens with autofocus, but no flash.

The left side of the case is completely free, on the right side there is a power button and a volume control key. Only the audio jack is placed on the top edge, in the center of the bottom you can find a micro-USB port with support for OTG (On-The-Go) technology and a built-in microphone.

Display

Tablet Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 is equipped with a 7-inch IPS-matrix with a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels, which for this diagonal corresponds to a pixel density of 215 PPI. The brightness of the backlight is manually adjustable from 45 to 355 cd / m2, automatic adjustment to ambient light conditions is also available. The capacitive touch layer supports up to 5 simultaneous touches, the quality of the oleophobic coating is average.

Functionality

The device is based on a hardware platform from Mediatek, with the Wi-Fi version of the S5000-F tablet using the MTK 8125 processor, and the 3G version of the S5000-H using the MTK 8389. This system-on-a-chip contains PowerVR SGX544 graphics and four Cortex compute cores -A7 is rated at 1.5 GHz, but the tablet developers have limited it to 1.2 GHz to save more power. As a result, the performance of the device does not break records, but it is quite enough for casual games and multimedia entertainment.

The amount of RAM is 1 GB, and the storage capacity is 16 GB, of which 12.9 GB is available to the user. You won't be able to expand the storage as the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 doesn't have a microSD card slot. From full charge Battery 3450 mAh tablet is able to work 6 hours of video playback and about 8 hours of web browsing. The tablet is equipped Bluetooth modules 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11n, optional 3G module with Micro-SIM card, as well as a hardware GPS receiver, which allows you to use this model as a navigator.

Interface

The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 tablet runs on Android 4.2.2 operating system, while the manufacturer guarantees an update to at least version 4.3. The corporate interface has a number of differences from the standard one, in particular, application shortcuts are by default placed on desktops with a pass-through paging, there is no dedicated section for applications.

In addition to the usual notification and settings panels, at the bottom of the main window there is additional panel settings. We especially note the proprietary power manager, which allows you to evaluate the energy consumption of specific programs and hardware components, as well as fine-tune the power consumption settings for yourself. This utility can be called from the settings menu or using an informative widget combined with the task manager.

Ergonomics

From an ergonomic point of view, the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 strongly resembles large smartphone. Slim, light and not too wide body makes it easy to operate this tablet with one hand. The location of the microphone, speaker and the presence of a proximity sensor are simply created for voice calls in Skype, which is especially true for the 3G version of the model.

The layout of the buttons will take some getting used to, as at first there is a slight confusion due to the fact that the power and volume keys are usually spread over different sides or they put the main ON / OFF button above the “rocker”.

Results

As a result, we can recommend the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 to those users who are looking for a stylish miniature tablet for every day. This essentially budget model looks great and is equipped with everything necessary for comfortable work, except for the support of memory cards.

However, the main problem of this tablet is not in itself, but in a competitive environment, since for the same money that they ask for it in Ukraine, you can buy a much more interesting ASUS Google Nexus 7 (2013). If the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 cost us the same as it costs in the US (currently about $180), then it would have a much better chance of success.
