How to type Greek letters on the keyboard. Online greek keyboard. Stylish emoji greek keyboard

You are all free to use this online Greek keyboard to type Greek characters on your computer, whether if you do not have a suitable Cyrillic keyboard. This keyboard is applicable for both small and capital letters and so you can enter any Greek character with this online keyboard. Alternatively, you can edit the text by simply placing your mouse cursor inside the box. The rules are similar to each other, as you tend to type and edit texts in software to edit text. We think this quite simple online Greek keyboard will help you type texts in Greek characters even if you are far from your computerized Greek, for example, you can use this online Greek keyboard when you are in a foreign country and using the internet in Internet cafe.

If you duplicate the Greek text and type it into the message Email it may happen that you see the Greek characters perfectly, but the people to whom you will send emails will not see them properly. To work around this problem, you must save the Greek text in text editor, for example, presumably OpenOffice or Microsoft Word and after that you need to send text file as an attachment. But the most the best way export IS-text to PDF file and then you can be 100% sure that the Greek characters won't get messed up or lost in any way.

Use english letters... For example, α can be entered as English "a", Ψ as English "Y", and so on. This way of writing Greek words is called beta code.

Or install the Greek layout ...

The most common Greek layout with 24 letters. You will not need a polytonic layout in any case. Forget about keyboard chords for typing psili, dasy, oxy, variy, signature iot and their combinations. Slavonic himself will provide you with the opportunity to introduce this variety at the right time. At the same time, your input speed will be higher than that of professional layout designers. What is there - higher than that of the ancient Greeks. I deliberately did not teach standard methods entering politonics, to be sure that what Slavonic offers is enough for the Greek minuscule.

To enter superscript letters ...

Just press the same key repeatedly. In this case, the active character in the contextual keyboard will cycle through the list, replacing the simple letter you have entered with a letter with superscripts. In this case, there is no need to press the ENTER key - just enter the next letter of the word. For example, you entered λο, but you intend to enter λόγος. After entering ο, you will see options: ό ὸ. Just press the ο key again and the letter you entered will be replaced by ό. Then immediately enter γ.

You can also use arrows ...

When you press the left-right arrows, the effect will be like a repetition, but it is much more convenient to enter characters with superscripts by repetition - your fingers remain in place, and do not reach for a far, far arrow. You can also use a mouse, but that's unprofessional :).

And if you press SHIFT while repeating ...

The active character in the contextual keyboard will move to reverse side... This technique is convenient if the list of candidates is long, but you want to quickly "reach" the last characters.

How do I enter a subscription iota?

To do this, you need to enter an iota explicitly and select a subscription iota from its options. For example, suppose you are required to enter ᾳ. Press the letters α, ι in succession, then repeat pressing ι to get to the varant with a signature iota. If you want to enter both iota and aspirated stress, such as ᾄ, enter ἄ first and then iota.

How do I enter a column?

Colon is entered using a regular point - when entering a point, the option with a column is offered, which can be selected by pressing the point again.

When you enter a capital letter ...

All the characters offered to you in the contextual keyboard will also be large. In this case, when repeating SHIFT for the sake of a capital letter, it is not necessary to press - it will only affect the traversal order, but not the case.

Why is the keyboard "contextual"?

The context of a letter is its location in the word. Depending on where the letter appears in the word, its valid variants may differ. For example, aspiration is placed only on the first syllable, and it is mandatory. This means that for the vowels of the first syllable there will be aspirated variants and there will be no aspirated variants, and for the rest - on the contrary. Here are some cases:

  • aspiration is written only over the first syllable
  • the letter σ at the end of a word is written as ς
  • trema (two dots) is placed only in the position of a possible diphthong
  • the initial ρ is always written with a thick aspiration
  • the combination ρρ is written as ῤῥ

Why is there no "necessary" letter among the options?

This most likely means that the option in this context is unacceptable. To avoid mistakes, Slavonic does not even offer it to you. If you suddenly find that the correct option is missing, do not forget to inform the developers at [email protected]

And how to enter a consecutive letter?

After all, when you press the same letter again, Slavonik goes through the options ?! In this case, after entering the first letter, you need to extinguish the contextual keyboard by pressing ESC or ENTER or with the mouse, and then enter the second letter. At first glance, this seems inconvenient, but believe me, using repeat to enter options is much more convenient. There are very few vowels in a row.

When does autocorrect letters work?

AutoCorrect works in cases when the letter you entered in this context should look 100% different. For example, if you did not enter σ at the beginning of a word, Slavonic will automatically replace it with ς, since there is no point in forcing you to select an option manually. The acute stress (oxia) on the last syllable is automatically replaced by the heavy stress (varia) when you enter the next space after the word. If suddenly in some case you do not like the autocorrect, you can cancel it through the usual UnDo.

VIRTUAL KEYBOARD program

The Virtual Keyboard software provides mouse input. Yes, it's not very convenient, but it's definitely better than writing: "ska4at russkaya klaviatura ..."

This program can be useful if you need to type text in a language whose alphabet characters are missing on the keyboard buttons or support for the corresponding layout is not installed in the operating system.

Another possible application for the virtual keyboard is the secure entry of confidential data (passwords, bank account numbers, credit cards). If you do not exclude that you are being watched by some program that registers your keystrokes on the keyboard, then virtual keyboard- the solution to this problem!

The difference between the two is that it is written in the Java programming language, so it works regardless of hardware, settings and language operating system and is also platform independent. Those. it can run on both Windows and Linux, as well as any other operating system.

The only requirement is that the Java virtual machine must be installed on the computer to run the program. (Java Virtual Machine or JRE), which is usually not included with the operating system.
