Tablet computer lenovo ideatab s5000 specifications. Feedback: Internet tablet Lenovo S5000-F - A good tablet, but with its drawbacks. Full review. I list all the advantages and disadvantages. Specifications Lenovo S5000

I want to tell you about my tablet, which is already a year and a half old. I just got around to writing this review today.
It's about the Lenovo S5000.
I bought it last summer. Even the check was preserved, unfortunately faded during this time.
This is what the box it came in looks like:

Information on the package:

Receipt:

I use it every day: watching movies (when the computer is busy with other family members), listening to music, writing reviews, reading books, or just surfing the Internet.
I bought it for work, but it also serves me well at home.
I still consider my tablet best buy over the past 5 years.

I bought it in a chain store household appliances comfort.
Also in the receipt you can see a case for the tablet and a protective film.
I know that some people neglect the film, but it will keep the tablet screen from scratches and fingerprints for a long time (fingers are not always sterile when working with the tablet).

I pasted the film myself at home, because in the store this service is paid, and it costs more than myself protective film.
Although in normal stores they are generally obliged to do this for free.

Equipment Lenovo tablet S5000:
✔ tablet directly
✔ USB cord for charging
✔ adapter for charger
✔ instruction
✔ warranty card

Looks like this in the case:

Instructions and Warranty Card:

Headphones, unfortunately, were not. I bought them in the same store separately, like the cover.
I love appearance tablet, it looks very businesslike, there is nothing superfluous, everything is restrained and stylish.

Tablet dimensions 11x19 cm.

The thickness is generally very small, less than 1 cm.
The weight of the tablet is quite small.

The rear panel is metallic, it has a camera (not very good, only 5 megapixels, for comparison, in my phone, also Lenovo A5000 - 8 megapixels).

There is a SIM card slot on the right side of the back panel (I have Utel):

There's also a headphone jack on the top.

Side on/off button and volume control:

I do not like the fact that there is no way to insert another memory card, there is only a built-in one, about 20 gig.
Also, the front camera is very weak (1.6 megapixels), the photos are blurry and inaccurate.
To the left of the camera is a speaker. I note that for me it is a plus that it is not on the back panel, as in many phones.

In addition, the photos from the central camera are not very high quality. For example, I will show a photo with a tablet and the second one under the same conditions with a Canon camera:

1. Tablet (it can be seen from the grass that it merges completely, the clarity is lame):

2. Camera (the grass is clearly visible, each blade of grass is divided and well drawn):

In addition, the Lenovo A5000 phone has a built-in flash, but the tablet does not have this function, unfortunately. Therefore, in the twilight or in the evening, photographing does not work at all.
This is a minus, of course.

About the programs in the tablet.
Initially, there were no programs I needed like social networks. In those phones and tablets that are sold now, they are built-in. And a year and a half ago, you had to download it yourself or this service is provided in a household appliance store (but for an additional fee).
I have downloaded desired programs, two browsers (Opera and Chrome), Skype, fitness programs, calorie counter, pedometer, guides and other useful programs.

At the bottom of the taskbar, you can choose the most important programs and functions for you. I have a gallery (where photos and videos are stored), video, camera and music player.

Also on the desktop there is a pop-up window at the top that has desired functions(so as not to go into the settings and not dig there). You just need to slide your finger from top to bottom. In this menu, you can quickly turn on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, edit the sound or switch the screen rotation (this is convenient when watching a video).

The battery holds 3450 mAh, for comparison, my Lenovo A5000 phone is 4000 mAh. That is, the tablet discharges faster than the phone.
To watch the video of his work is enough for 10 hours of continuous work.
If you use only to access the Internet - then about a day.
I also want to add that Opera can crash right in the middle of working in it, that is, the tablet resources are not enough for its full-fledged work.
The same happens with a very large video size, so I try to make cuts from it before downloading the video to the tablet (transfer from the computer).
The music sounds good, there was never any interference or failures.
Small programs like the same pedometer work perfectly.

I will briefly give the pros and cons of the Lenovo S5000 tablet:

Flaws

Not the most powerful battery
- No memory card slot
- performance sometimes leaves much to be desired
- screen size is very small
- fuzzy photos
- some programs may stop working for some unknown reason

Advantages

Relatively compact dimensions
- fits comfortably in the hand
- not too much weight
- acceptable price

Conclusions: Lenovo tablet is suitable for those people who want to use it to watch videos, listen to music. But it is definitely not suitable for taking photos, because the quality is frankly useless.

Tablet Lenovo S5000 received a rather elegant appearance. This modest in size and lightweight device can become a full-fledged companion thanks to its convenience and practical features.

Design

Almost the entire front of the tablet is closed protective glass, only a small strip of plastic is left at the bottom. The main part of the back case is made of pleasant to the touch and slightly ribbed silver plastic. This material does not slip in the hands, does not leave fingerprints, and from a distance it can be confused with metal. The back cover of the device is non-removable, it has an indented manufacturer's logo in the middle, and the lens of the main camera in the upper left corner.

Display

The device is equipped with 7 inches. IPS display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels. To some, this resolution may seem very small today, but this drawback cannot seriously spoil the impression of the device.

Interface

The tablet is running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, but the manufacturer announced the possibility of updating the firmware via OTA to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The shell of the tablet differs significantly from the standard interfaces that we could see in other Android devices. Perhaps the most notable innovation was the rejection of the application menu. Instead, the icons of all installed utilities are displayed directly on desktops, and they can be independently moved between other screens and collected in folders.

Camera

The device received a 5MP main camera and a 1.6MP front camera. Shooting app opens in 2 seconds; it supports scene shooting, adjusts white balance, exposure and other image formats.

The quality of the photo is not very high - the device is absolutely not intended for systematic photography.

Wireless networks

Wi-Fi model supports 802.11b / g / n standards with a frequency of 2.4 GHz. Bluetooth modules version 3.0 or 4.0, depending on the model. There is also a GPS with A-GPS support.

Device in operation

The device comes in two forms - with and without 3G support, as "3G model" and "Wi-Fi model" (the latter is practically not found in Russia). Different variants received different chipsets. WiFi works on MediaTek platform MT8125 and 3G on MediaTek MT8389. There is practically no difference between these chipsets: both processors have 4 ARM Cortex-A7 cores at 1.2 GHz, PowerVR SGX544MP2 graphics and are equipped with the same performance.

The volume of operational and internal memory is 1 and 16 GB respectively. Cannot be expanded with memory cards, but there is a way to connect external drives with USB host.

Offline work

The device is equipped with a non-removable lithium-ion battery 3450 mAh. It takes about two and a half hours to charge. The battery capacity is modest, but sufficient for such a tablet. In addition, the size of the battery could not be increased without compromising the low mass of the device.

Results

The tablet is not new, and it has flaws. It will not work as a full-fledged gaming device or a producer of high-quality images. But if you want an inexpensive device that you can carry around with you all the time, then it is a good option especially given its weight and size.

The average cost is 8000 rubles.

Lenovo S5000 tablet video review

The company has been on the market for a long time. It cannot be called completely Chinese, because it was formed as a result of the merger of the Chinese Legend Holdings and the American IBM Personal Systems Group. Now Lenovo successfully produces computer hardware various types including portable devices. As a rule, its products are distinguished by unique features that favorably distinguish them from competing solutions.

advertising

In addition to desktops, laptops and Lenovo smartphones offers two main lines of tablets. The Think series devices are designed for business, while the Idea-branded models are more focused on multimedia use.

Thus, the S series tablets are positioned as advanced stylish devices based on the operating system. Android systems. Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-H is a seven-inch thin, light and powerful enough tablet, the design of which repeats the company's smartphones.

In fact, we have before us an inexpensive mid-ranger, which should be of interest to its appearance, ease of use and peppy hardware and software stuffing.

advertising

On the other hand, there are a sufficient number of similar devices from different manufacturers on sale. The compact S5000-H will be on a par with ASUS Nexus 7, LG G Pad, samsung galaxy Tab 3 and others. Lesser-known companies can also offer their own options, including Huawei MediaPad 7 Classic, Wexler TAB 7t and others. So the IdeaTab S5000-H is not alone in this regard. And those Lenovo engineers have a harder time - against the backdrop of all the diversity, they must show something interesting.

We'll talk more about the alternatives later, but for now let's move on to reviewing the hero of the review. The IdeaTab S5000 comes in two versions: Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi/3G. The last one arrived for testing. Both versions are equipped with 16 GB of permanent memory and are available in silver and black. The option with only Wi-Fi will cost about 10 thousand rubles, and for the presence of 3G you will have to pay about 2 thousand more.

Fixed

No matter how many large, full-size tablets have been released to the computer equipment market, compact tablet PCs have been and remain the most in demand. This is explained quite simply, because for most users a tablet is an opportunity to pass their leisure time, that is, its mobility is important. Of course, tablets with a diagonal of 10 inches or more in this regard noticeably lose to their counterparts.

V this review we are talking about a fairly compact 7-inch model Lenovo IdeaTab S5000, which will definitely appeal to connoisseurs of stylish gadgets. In addition to the pretty outer shell, the inner content is also pleasing: of course, this gadget is not designed for powerful tasks, but it can handle everyday tasks with brilliance!

Design

As the material of the tablet, the manufacturer limited himself to plastic, however, it is involved in the design in different variations. For instance, back cover gray color has a matte rough surface, which is very convenient for use. In its lower part there is a black mirror insert, of course, also plastic. In the middle of the lid, you can see the Lenovo logo, and in the upper left corner - the rear webcam.

The mirror insert is also visible in front of the gadget: it is a kind of edging, which is somewhat more expanded at the bottom of the device. At the top and on the side faces, it is seen as a thin strip. There is also a corporate logo of the company, located directly below the screen. There are no physical keys on the front of the tablet, but there is a speaker, a front webcam lens and an ambient light sensor above the display.

Given the heterogeneous design of the device, which completely distracts all the attention, it seems difficult to determine the dimensions of the gadget by eye. However, the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 is 0.8 cm thick and 19 cm and 12 cm long and wide, respectively. Weight is 246 g.

Display, sound and webcam

The screen of the tablet is very compact - 7-inch, its resolution is 1280 by 800 pixels with a density of 215 ppi, the matrix type is IPS. These are fairly standard figures for a tablet PC of this form factor, they cannot be called ideal, but, in general, they are quite good. There is an oleophobic coating on the display, which should protect it from fingerprints that leave greasy marks and dirt.

The visibility of the screen is good, inherent in the IPS-matrix. According to the manufacturer, the viewing angles of the tablet are 178 degrees. Thus, several people can easily enjoy the movie, view Internet resources at the same time. By the way, the multi-touch function is also present, the screen supports up to five touches at a time. It is worth adding that the display is quite bright and contrasting, the image on it looks realistic.

The speaker in the IdeaTab S5000 is one, and it is located above the display near the webcam. You should not expect a miracle from him: the sound is standard, but enough to play something, especially if you connect headphones. But there are two cameras, while the front one is limited to a resolution of 1.6 megapixels, and the rear one - 5 megapixels. At the same time, the main one boasts autofocus, but there is no flash here. The purpose of these cameras is known to everyone: the front camera is used exclusively for video communication, and the rear one is useful if you need to take a picture of something. It is clear that with such a small resolution to rely on high quality pictures are not required.

Keyboard

There is not much to say about the keyboard in the tablet, because it is not physical, and we cannot feel it. But there is virtual keyboard, which is an invariable attribute of any tablet PC. It appears on the display as soon as it is necessary to enter, for example, a word in search string or post on social media.

So, here is the standard Android keyboard. Its interface is very convenient and understandable, if desired, you can change various parameters, such as language. In general, even those who have never worked with this operating system will make friends with the keyboard instantly!

Performance

We have Android 4.2 as a preinstalled OS, while the manufacturer promises that the system will immediately be updated to version 4.3. The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-F bundle includes a MediaTek MT8125 quad-core processor based on ARM Cortex-A7 with an operating frequency of 1.2 GHz. By the way, this SoC is equipped mainly with low-end tablet models. There is another bundle - Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-H, which has a slightly stronger processor - MediaTek MT8389. In addition to this feature, this modification is equipped with a 3G module.

The graphics card is PowerVR SGX544. It can encode and decode video, supports DirectX 9, OpenGL 2.1, OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0, OpenVG 1.1 and OpenCL 1.1.

There are no options for choosing the amount of RAM and internal memory, you will have to be content with what Lenovo engineers have laid down. And they offer potential users 1 GB of LP DDR2 RAM and 16 GB of flash memory, of which some will go under the system, and 13 GB can be used. Unfortunately, memory cards are not provided, and therefore it will not work to expand the capacity of the built-in memory.

Ports and communications

The interfaces are placed on almost all sides of the tablet PC, except for the left one, which may not seem quite rational to users.
The left side of the tablet is not equipped with any interfaces.

But on the right there is a volume rocker and a button to turn on the gadget.

At the top, the manufacturer limited itself to only a headphone jack.

On the bottom end you can see Micro-USB / OTG in the center, and next to it is the built-in microphone.

The configurations of this tablet PC differ, first of all, in the presence of a 3G module in one of them. In the Lenovo IdeaTab S5000-F model we are describing, this feature is optional. In addition, without fail, each of them has built-in wireless communications Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11n, as well as a GPS navigator.

Battery

The tablet has a lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 3450 mAh. Based on the manufacturer's assurances, this battery allows you to operate the device for at least 8 hours with Wi-Fi turned on. And the engineers were right, indeed, the gadget is able to work for about 8 hours of web surfing and about 6 hours of watching movies. Even under load at 100% display brightness, the battery will be discharged no sooner than after 4 hours. We conclude that this tablet PC is incredibly mobile and ideal for travel.

Conclusion

The Lenovo IdeaTab S5000 tablet is just a godsend for anyone who is looking for a compact gadget in order to have fun and productively spend free time. Yes, it has a plastic case, but this also has its advantages: it is light and far from the most expensive on the tablet market (on average, $290). In addition, it has a nice looking design and definitely will not go unnoticed by others, especially since there is an opportunity to purchase the same model, but with 3G.

The display of the tablet, although it does not have a phenomenal resolution, is enough for 7 inches of what is. In addition, the IPS matrix will delight the user with good viewing angles. The filling of the device is enough to solve everyday tasks, as well as for many modern games. A rather significant disadvantage is only one thing - it is impossible to increase the memory storage due to the lack of a slot for memory cards.

In general, the tablet turned out to be successful, and therefore we advise you to take a closer look at it to everyone who is this moment is in search of a quality device.
