My S7 Edge slows down mercilessly. Applications, menu sections, switching between tasks - the smartphone thinks ALWAYS! The feeling that I am using some kind of Redmi 3S, and not a top-end device from the global electronics giant. A shame!

I mean, while the gadget was relevant, that is, the entire 2016, it did not slow down, everything worked as expected. And with latest updates on optimization all hammered. And I'm sure no one does it on purpose (it's not Apple). Optimization of software for last year's devices is simply a matter of "how it goes". We'll be in time - it's good, if we don't, it's even better. The user swears, suffers and goes to the salon to buy the current flagship. He's “so used to Samsung”. No need to step on the same rake, we turn on the brain.

• If you have the current flagship from Samsung in your hands, then we stop updating immediately after the release of the new generation.
• If you have the latest generation iPhone in your hands, you can update +1 year after the new generation is released. No further.

It works great with iPhones and even Samsung. It's just that the "apple" smartphone keeps the price for the first six months, and the top-end device from South Korea lasts a maximum of a couple of months.

I thought the device was slowing down in power saving mode. Well, this is when you lower the native resolution to Full HD, background processes are limited, Always On Display does not work, and so on. I turned on full power, but left a low resolution: fewer pixels - more agility. It is logical after all. Whatever it is!

The smartphone is still lagging. And nothing can be done about it. Although no, you can, after all, carry out a hard reset every month, constantly transfer files to the computer and then, maybe, with luck, the smartphone will start working as expected.

But wait! Why did I spend 30 kilo rubles on all this whistle? I could buy Xiaomi Redmi 4 Pro for 8 thousand rubles and, most interestingly, not have such problems. And this for all the gluttony of their proprietary MIUI shell.

Not frequent but stable glitches

For example, the following happened just a couple of days ago. I went into Google play Market to update all apps on the smartphone (auto-update disabled), but I was unable to do so. Why? The Refresh All button just didn't work.

Of course, I thought it was some kind of store glitch, went to main screen and killed all processes. Did it help? Yes, never!

Now the icon has ceased to be pressed Play Store on your desktop. But this is not the end.

I rebooted my smartphone, reopened the store, wanted to hit the Refresh All button and guess what happened. Nothing! She was not pressed again. The video below is proof.

Oleophobic coating - it is not

Once I read another article by Eldar Murtazin, where he said that the oleophobic coating wears off after a month, they say, there is no need to harbor illusions about this. I thought it was utter stupidity, because I had never encountered such a thing. On any, even on budget smartphone oleophobic lasts at least six months. That's what I thought until I started using a Samsung smartphone.

Really! The protective coating on the glass of my S7 Edge peeled off after three weeks. In three! Weeks! Karl !!! 1

Dry the device or simply wipe it with a cloth and shake it a little. It will take 5-10 minutes to dry at room temperature, after which the speakers will operate at the same volume. However, we tested a commercial S7 in a flask at a depth of a meter, in the video you can see the test result.

Those who believe that you need to drown in seawater and only in it, are mistaken. The IP standard describes exclusively fresh water, no salts or other reagents. It should also be remembered that no manufacturer in the world guarantees 100% drowning protection, and this will not be a warranty case. Therefore, you definitely should not tempt fate and drown your devices, unless it happened by accident.

Once again, a wave of curses arose in the direction of TouchWiz, which is "constantly buggy", "works slowly" and so on. I can say one thing, in the last two years, Samsung flagships have passed these people by. Another common mantra is that Android N (the seventh version of Android) has already been released, and the owners of the Galaxy S6 only received Android 6. And that the seven should be expected only in a year.

This is a very comfortable position that we have discussed many times. Google doesn't release Android versions for customers, but for developers. There are not so many custom features in Android N, most of them are already in previous Samsung devices.

ZTE remains one of the few telecommunications companies in China that continues to receive long and cheap government loans. The local preferences of this company are such that competitors only sigh sadly and try to catch up with hard work. The company sells infrastructure equipment to 500 operators in 160 countries around the world, is firmly in the top three suppliers, produces its own smartphones and ranks fifth in this market, and continues to increase its presence in this segment. For example, in 2015 ZTE's ambitions were such that the company began to take over the American smartphone market, in a year it doubled sales and reached 20 million units. Which propelled ZTE to the fourth place in the US, it caused torment in Huawei, as the company is not doing so well in this market.

The successful company, which has subsidiaries all over the world, is supported by the government. Why did she become a target for the United States? The answer lies in the fact that it was ZTE that was chosen as the executor of the national program for the development of microelectronics. The world's second largest economy consumes half of all electronic components that are created on our planet. This is a factory for the assembly of various electronics, the world's largest factory. But if you take a look at the list of major suppliers, makers of components, from memory to processors, then you will not find in the top ten Chinese companies. China acts as an assembly shop, but not as a manufacturer and technology creator. In the summer of 2015, the Chinese government and Xi Jinping adopted a program to develop their own microelectronics manufacturing and development enterprises to overcome their dependence on American companies. Over ten years, it was planned to spend one trillion yuan on this program, which at that rate was approximately $ 160 billion. Several companies were selected to search for attractive investment directions, with ZTE becoming a key player.

Starting in September 2015, ZTE launched a program to find and purchase design studios that can work with microelectronics. The task was set simply - to buy everything that is of the slightest interest and will allow you to get closer to creating your own technologies, to develop individual components. A number of deals in Europe and the United States broke down due to the opposition of states, which actually banned the sale under various pretexts. Small companies did not have any secret technologies, except for the ability to create mass products using standard tools. But some influential considered it a threat to US dominance in the electronics market and blocked such deals. The opposition was mild and did not arouse ZTE's suspicion, as some transactions were going through and the impression of a market situation was created.

What happened in March? ZTE tried to gain access to Qualcomm technologies, negotiations were underway on IP licensing, development technologies mobile processors... All this happened against the backdrop of an internal crisis in Qualcomm, the company urgently needed money, it was even about dividing the company into two parts. Chinese ZTE could offer money that would solve all the issues. But the deal for some reason did not take place, unfortunately, it is not possible to find out the details of this incident, about a dozen people were involved in it from both sides.

But literally immediately the situation with Iran occurs, simultaneously with the public statement, American companies begin to receive notifications from the Ministry of Commerce, which prohibit work with ZTE, the exchange of information and the supply of not only technologies, but also finished products. The imposition of sanctions is happening quickly, if not instantly.

Suddenly, it turns out that the Taiwanese MediaTek is controlled by the United States and also refuses to ship chipsets to ZTE, despite the appearance of independence. At Qualcomm, the situation is exactly the same, which is exacerbated by the new rules, employees are warned that any communication with representatives of ZTE will be investigated. To understand the implications of this step, one must remember that ZTE buys $ 450 million in components and electronics from American companies every quarter (data from Bloomberg Supply Chain). The sanctions imposed by the American government, in theory, hit the American companies that supply these components, they can lose the market. The ZTE situation is interesting not as an independent event, but as part of a larger technology control game. And while it can be argued that the United States made its move. As far as I know, Chinese companies are on the hunt for engineers who can help create their microelectronics, and are willing to pay them above the market.
