The Internet does not connect to an unidentified network. "Without Internet access" when connected via Wi-Fi: how to fix it? Updating or reinstalling drivers

The error "Unrecognized network. Without Internet access" is well known since previous versions of Windows. In the new Windows 10, the "Unidentified network" error looks a little different, but the problem itself and the solutions remain the same. If this error appears, it means that there are problems with the internet connection. When there is no connection for some reason. In this case, it does not matter at all whether you have a laptop, a stationary computer, or even a tablet.

This error may appear when connecting via Wi-Fi, via a router, or when connecting via a network cable (directly from the provider, or through a router)... In both cases, there will be a yellow exclamation mark next to the Internet connection icon in the notification bar. And in network connections, near the adapter through which you are connected to the Internet there will be an inscription "Unidentified network".

Let's see how it all looks in practice.

When connecting via cable (Ethernet)

If you encounter this problem when the Internet is connected by cable, then in the window with the connection status there will be an error "Unrecognized network. No internet connection"... Well, there is a yellow icon next to the internet connection icon. And next to the "Ethernet" adapter there will also be a message about an unrecognized network.

If the Wi-Fi connection

In this case, the error will be "No internet connection, protected"... The wireless adapter will have the status "Unrecognized network". And there will be a yellow exclamation mark next to the "Wi-Fi" icon.

  • When connecting via Wi-Fi router. Including by cable.
  • And when the Internet is connected directly to the computer via a network cable. From your internet service provider.

It seems to me that this error is most often encountered when connecting via a network cable. Via an Ethernet adapter.

Simple solutions for the "Unrecognized network" error in Windows 10

Let's start by looking at simple and basic solutions. Perhaps these tips will help you fix your internet access problem. And you don't have to tinker with more complex solutions.

Resetting network settings

I thought, and decided to advise the first thing to do a reset of the network settings. This method very often helps to solve various problems with the Internet connection. Resetting the network is very easy in Windows 10. In the parameters, in the "Network and Internet" section, there is a separate item. It is enough to click on "Reset network", then on the "Reset now" button and confirm.

I described this process in more detail in a separate article:.

There is a chance that after restarting your computer, the Internet will work.

You can also reset TCP / IP parameters through the command line by running the following commands:

netsh int ip reset

ipconfig / release

But I don't see much sense in this. If you have Windows 10, then it is better to do a network reset, as I showed above.

Verifiable TCP / IP settings

The "Unidentified network" error itself indicates that the system was unable to obtain an IP address from the router, or the equipment of the Internet provider. Perhaps the problem is in the IP settings for the IPv4 protocol in the properties of our Internet connection. If some static parameters are already registered there, then it is quite possible that they are set incorrectly. You can try to set the automatic IP acquisition. Or write static settings (if the connection is via a router, or your ISP issues a static IP).

This error can also be caused by problems with the DHCP server on the router. (whose task is to distribute IP addresses)... Therefore, restart your router.

One more thing: you probably noticed that after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable, or after reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network, the connection remains in the "Identification" status for a long time. This is nothing more than trying to get an IP address to connect.

Open Network and Sharing Center and Change adapter settings.

  • If the connection is via Wi-Fi, then open the properties of the "Wireless network" adapter.
  • If on a network cable, then "Ethernet".

The problematic adapter will most likely have an inscription "Unidentified network". Right-click on it and select Properties.

Highlight IP Version 4 (TCP / IPv4) and click the Properties button. Another window will open in which you can set the necessary parameters for this connection. we do this:

If this does not help, then it is better to set the automatic receipt of addresses back. Or register the addresses that were originally specified there.

Change of network address on error "Unrecognized network. No Internet connection"

In some cases, changing the MAC address of the adapter through which we connect to the Internet can help.

To do this, go to the device manager. You can find it and run it through the search. Or by specifying the command devmgmt.msc in the Run window that appears after pressing the Win + R keyboard shortcut.

In the manager, open the "Network adapters" tab, right-click on the adapter through which you connect to the Internet, and select "Properties".

Click on the "Advanced" tab. Highlight Network Address in the list. And by setting the switch next to the empty field, we register a new address of 12 characters there. You can use only numbers, or letters from A to F. It looks something like this:

Click "Ok" and restart your computer.

Remove the adapter, update the Ethernet and Wi-Fi adapter driver

To be honest, I have not seen a case where the network adapter driver was to blame for solving such problems with the lack of an Internet connection in Windows 10. But everything can be. Therefore, I would advise you to first try to remove the adapter so that it is reinstalled in the system.

To do this, in the device manager, just right-click on the adapter, when connecting through which the "Unidentified network" error appears, and select "Delete". If you have problems with Wi-Fi connection, then you need to remove the driver with the name "Wi-Fi", or "Wireless". I have, in the screenshot below, the driver for the "Ethernet" network card is shown.

Then restart your PC or laptop. The system should again detect and install the adapter driver we removed. I wrote about this in the article. There I also gave other advice on this topic.

You can try reinstalling the network adapter driver you are having problems with. You need to download the driver for your laptop model, or adapter from the official website, and start installing it.

There is a separate article on this topic:. And separately for the network card (LAN) driver:.

I will try to supplement the article with new solutions that can fix the error with an unrecognized Ethernet network, or a Wi-Fi adapter in Windows 10. If you have any information on this problem, please share it in the comments. There you can also leave your questions on the topic of the article.

Windows users are fairly familiar with network problems. Among them is one of the favorite "unidentified network" aka "Network without Internet access". This is due to the constant updating of the network status in these operating systems. So, if there is any problem with the connection to the network, a corresponding message is displayed on the screen and an exclamation mark warning about failures is displayed in a yellow triangle.
In order to solve this problem, you need to go to the network settings. For this:
1. Right-click on the exclamation mark icon.

2. Select from the drop-down list "View active networks"
3. If you have the error "Unidentified network without access to the Internet", then, most likely, there is a problem with the IP address of the computer itself, to check it, you must select an active network connection, right-click and, in the list that opens, select "Status" and in the window, click the "Properties" button. The window will display information about your IP address and subnet mask. They need to be written out.

4. To check the correspondence of the IP addresses, you need to take the router, turn it over (its IP address, username and password are indicated there).

5. Next, right-click again on the active network, but now select the "Properties" item.
6. In the window that opens, select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)" and click "Properties".
7. The "Protocol Properties" window demonstrates the basic settings, due to which the most likely problems have arisen, for elimination you need to enter the following data (according to this example):

Try restarting your router

This is an option for those who previously had a normal connection, everything worked, and then suddenly a seemingly familiar and "verified" connection writes "Unidentified network".

Perhaps some of the settings of the router itself are lost. They can recover again when they reconnect. To do this, simply unplug the router and then reinsert it.

In addition, you need to check if there is a direct connection via cable. It is possible that the root of the problem lies with the ISP. Did not help? Then let's move on.

Check the wireless settings on your computer

If you have already rebooted the router, but the inscription “Unrecognized network. Without Internet access ”has not disappeared, the reason may lie in the incorrect settings of the wireless adapter or the network itself on the computer.

Problems with IP addresses are common, for example when the system is unable to obtain it automatically. If you registered them manually, then, most likely, the specified address is incorrect, or the subnet has been changed.

In this case, you need to check the adapter settings in the "Network and Sharing Center". In the window that appears, you need to select the connection that you are using, right-click on its icon and select the "Status" item. The "Connection status" window will be displayed on the screen. This is what we need. If the “IPv4 address” item contains an address of the 169.254.X.X format, then the system could not automatically obtain an IP address using the DHCP server of the router.

First of all, in this case, it makes sense to try to register it manually. On the bottom of the router, as a rule, there is a sticker indicating the model and brand of the device. On it, you can also see its IP address, as well as data for accessing the web interface (login and password).

Right-click on the network connection icon again, but this time select the "Properties" item. Then you need to select the component "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)", put a dot in the new window next to "Use ...".

Typical router settings

For most routers (with the exception of "D-Link" routers), the following settings should be suitable:

If an unidentified network without access appears when working with a "D-Link" router, use other settings:

Correct the router settings

Many people, in order to configure a router, exactly duplicate the settings indicated as an example on the network. And often this is what leads to the fact that the computer subsequently displays the message “Unidentified network. Without Internet access ”.

The examples exist only so that users can understand which item of which section of the device menu is responsible for what. You must write your own settings, and not those indicated in the example. It so happens that the settings shown as an example are the same as yours. If this is not the case, it becomes difficult to gain access to the network.

Double-check your username and password. If you missed a character, chose the wrong case or input language, the Internet will not be available. In addition, an unrecognized WiFi network may appear due to an incorrectly selected connection type.

When setting up the modem, be sure to use your settings, and not those offered in other people's examples, then everything will work out.

Update your drivers

Outdated or non-working network adapter drivers are also often the reason that a computer or laptop only gets limited access when trying to connect to the Internet. The unrecognized network will be able to identify normally when you fix this problem.

Important! The drivers that the Windows operating system installs on its own do not always work adequately. A much more reliable option is to download the appropriate software directly from your router manufacturer's website.

Change the MAC address

You did everything that is described above, but an unidentified network without access to the Internet remained, and you do not observe any signs of life from the side of the connection?

The problem may be related to the incorrect MAC address of the device. However, this is only relevant in cases where all devices connected to the same network are working normally and have access to the Internet, and only one computer or laptop has problems.

The trick is that manufacturers often assign the same MAC address to all boards. If you reinstalled the drivers from the disk that came with the motherboard, two devices with the same MAC address may appear on the network. Is this your case? Then you should try to register it manually.

Press the key combination Win + R, and then in the "Run" window, write the command devmgmt.msc. This opens the Windows Device Manager. This must be done on behalf of a user with administrator rights. In the manager, we need to find the item "Network adapters". In the drop-down list, you will see the name of the device with which the computer connects to the Internet. Click on the adapter icon twice, in the window that appears, select the "Advanced" item. We need a "Network Address". Opposite an empty field, check the box, then enter 12 numbers in this field, click "OK" and restart the computer.

Check the firewall

Incorrect firewall settings are another common reason why a computer or laptop gives the error “Unrecognized network. Without Internet access ”.

If the firewall is configured correctly, it will suppress attempts of unauthorized penetration into the network from the outside and prevent malicious actions. However, sometimes it blocks all data streams altogether.

Check the IP addresses that the firewall does not give access to the Internet, among them the address of your device should not be present. It is better to register the entire list of IPs that should be blocked by yourself, it takes a little time, but there will be no risk that your computer will be accidentally included in the list of prohibited devices.

And one more thing 1. You can perform a full reset of the network connections settings, then re-configure the settings: Press Win + X and enter the commands below one by one:
"netsh int ip reset"

"netsh winsock reset"

"ipconfig / flushdns"

2. You can also change some parameters using the Group Policy Editor. Press Win + R and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. Open Computer Configuration - Windows Configuration - Security Settings - Network List Manager Policies.

Unidentified network with access type - No Internet access.

Most often this occurs after reinstalling the Windows operating system and means that there is a connection to the network at the physical and data link levels, but at the network level it is no longer there. In simple terms, there is a problem with the IP address - most likely the system cannot get it dynamically. If your IP-address is registered manually, then it is probably either registered incorrectly, or the subnet has changed.

We select a network connection (local network or wireless) through which we are connected and right-click on it and select the "Status" item in the context menu

In the opened connection status window, click the "Details" button. In the Network Connection Information, look at the "IP Address (IPv4 Address)" field. If an address from the subnet 169.254.X.X is indicated there, this means that the system could not obtain an IP address automatically using the DHCP server of the router. The most common cause is a router malfunction or incorrect port grouping. What to do now?

First of all, let's try to register the IP address manually. To do this, first turn the router upside down. There should be a sticker indicating the brand and model of the router:

It should also contain the IP address of the router, as well as the login and password for access to the web interface.
Now we again click on the network connection with the right mouse button and select the "Properties" menu item:

In the "Connection Properties" window, select the "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)" component and double-click on it with the left mouse button. The Internet Protocol Version 4 Properties window opens. Here we tick the box "Use the following IP address" and write the addresses:
IP address - 192.168.1.2,
Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0,
The main gateway is 192.168.1.1,
The preferred DNS server is 192.168.1.1.

Alternatively, you can register Google or Yandex DNS servers: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 or 77.88.8.8.
Press the OK button, close the window and check the network access. After these steps, Internet access should appear. If this does not happen, most likely there are problems with the settings of your router, or further, already on the equipment of the provider.
Note: If you have a D-Link router with an IP address of 192.168.0.1, then the IP address must also be registered from the same subnet, for example - 192.168.0.2.

If the previous steps did not help, here is another way. But this method is worth trying only if you have several devices connected to the Internet and work without problems, and the difficulties are only on one computer or laptop. The thing is that sometimes problems with connecting to the network are associated with the MAC address of the network device - they usually arise after reinstalling the integrated network adapter driver, which most users install from the disk that comes with the motherboard. And the manufacturer of the boards, to speed up the technical process and unify, stupidly puts everyone the same MAC address. As a result, two devices with one MAC address may appear on the network. In this case, you should try to register the MAC address manually. To do this, press the WIN + R key combination and write the devmgmt.msc command in the Run window:

This will launch the Windows Device Manager. This must be done from under a user with Administrator rights.

In the task manager, look for the "Network adapters" section. In it, select the adapter through which the computer is connected and double-click on it with the left mouse button. In the window that opens, open the "Advanced" tab. We are interested in the "Network Address" parameter. We put a tick in front of an empty field and write 12 digits in this field. Since this field is in hexadecimal format, you can also write letters from A to F, but this is not necessary. Click OK, restart your computer and check.

The network is recognized, but no internet access is available.

This problem is especially common when connected via WiFi. At the same time, services such as Skype or ICQ can work. The point here is that when connected to the network, the system either cannot get the addresses of DNS servers, or it does, but for some reason they do not work. As a rule, there is only one solution - to register the addresses of DNS servers manually. To do this, right-click on the network connection, select the "Properties" menu item:

Select the component "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4)" and double-click on it with the left mouse button. In the properties window that opens, put a checkmark "Use the following DNS server addresses" and in the fields of the Preferred and Alternative DNS servers, write the addresses of the public DNS servers Google and Yandex: 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 or 77.88.8.8.

The most common case. Your computer sees the network and tries to work with it. And he physically succeeds. But in the network exchange device there are several levels of interaction (we read the OSI 7 levels model in Google). So, if your computer does not receive an IP address, then this error will fly out.

The "Identification" status may still hang for a long time before this - when your system is still trying to fetch itself the correct IP.

Why didn't he get an IP address? In ideal conditions, a router uses its DHCP server to distribute its own address to each connected device. But at some point, a failure may occur and the correct addresses (standard - 192.168.x.x) will not be issued. And the computer will try to do it itself and will return incorrect ones from the 169.254.x.x pool. In total, the computer and the router are physically connected (be it via an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi), but they are virtually on different networks and do not see each other.

The reboot solution is very often helpful in this case. Another option is to manually set your network settings so that you never have this problem. But if you suddenly don’t understand this at all, it’s better not to meddle. There is a risk of doing something wrong.

For advanced users, I suggest the following instruction.

We remember the IP address of our router. If you don't know, look at the sticker on the bottom:

Through the "Network Control Center ..." (Windows 7) or "Network and Internet Settings" (Windows 10) we get into the adapter settings. Select your problem adapter, right-click, "Properties". And then as according to the scheme:

A bit of decryption. My router at home has the address 192.168.0.1. We enter it in the gateway field. The mask is always the same for everyone. But you can try to make the IP address by anyone, but the third digit (0) should be the same as on the router. "Eights" - we leave it as it is, these are DNS servers from Google, come in handy. Total:

IP address: 192.168.0.127
Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS: 8.8.8.8
Alternative DNS: 8.8.4.4

After saving, everything should literally work right away. Try it. If it didn't work out, move on.

The problem "Without access to the network" is treated in the same way.

Just without internet access, the network is recognized
A slightly different case when the network seems to be recognized and even the Internet can be on some applications like Skype. But sites are not loaded point-blank. And in the type of access hangs "No access". As a solution, add alternative DNS from the previous section. In this case, the basic settings do not need to be changed. The output should look something like this:

Other options

Here I will list other options, if the first cases still did not help, but writes that the network is not recognized. Rather, something from this list will help too:

The provider has a problem. Especially if the connection is not through a router, but directly. If you have any doubts, just call your Provider and consult. It's free and often really helps, and often this is the only way to find out about problems on the side (from personal experience with native Rostelecom). Especially if everything worked smoothly the day before.
Try to share the problem right away - is there such a thing on other devices or is everything okay there? If the problem is general, then either the provider or the router is to blame. If only on one computer - the trouble is in the network settings, but you can solve them using the methods above.
Driver problem. Rarely, but aptly.

Literally several times during my entire working time, I encountered the problem that there are no problems with the driver in the Device Manager, but the device does not work correctly. This is especially evident in the automatic installation by the Windows driver itself. So if you have doubts about the iron part, try reinstalling everything using the same DRP.su.

Same MAC address. Another possible case. Less common, but still worth mentioning. The fact is that manufacturers can issue the same MAC addresses to some of their devices on the stream. At the exit, 2 devices, by coincidence, can compete for a place in the sun. Total - one has a connection, the other does not have access to the network. Those in the know can easily check the current MACs on all their devices and think about changing them (Device Manager or Technitium MAC Address Changer to help).

DHCP server on the router - if possible, go to the settings of the router and check if it works exactly and if the DHCP server we need is enabled there. Very rarely turns off.

My Internet sometimes disappears with this error for another interesting reason - there is a signal amplifier, and the laptop periodically reconnects from the router to it, choosing the best signal (relevant for a wireless network connection). As a result, the Internet disappears for some time, this status falls out. But everything is solved literally in seconds.

Another way.

We need to go to the router settings interface and set the range of IP addresses assigned by the router in automatic mode. Make sure that it does not include the PC's IP address, which we manually specified.

Type the URL - 192.168.1.1 in the browser line, go through the authorization and the administrator panel of the router will open in front of you.

There we need to find the "Local network" and go to the DHPC server configuration data.

In the "Initial address of the pool of IP addresses", enter an arbitrary address that follows the PC address set by us manually (192.168.1.2). At the end, click on the "Apply" button.

I entered these numbers - 192.168.1.5. Now the router automatically sets addresses for each device, starting from it.

If you do not know the IP address of the router, then take a look at it. As a rule, the manufacturer indicates at the bottom all the data about the device, including the IP address.

You can also find out the address of the device if you go to the information about connecting to the network:

We open the "Network Control Center and ...".
Click on the link with the text "Local Area Connection".
In the resulting window, pay attention to "Details".
internet information

In the text construction with the description "Default gateway", the device address is indicated.

Installing drivers

The problem analyzed in this article may also be caused by incorrect installation of drivers or installation of drivers not from the manufacturer of the network card or adapter. In this case, you need to reinstall them, without fail using only those that are officially provided by the device developer. Next, we will consider several options for action to achieve this goal. Let's start with a simple reinstallation.

Go to the "Control Panel" using the same steps as in the previous method. Go to the "System and Security" section.

Click on the name of the Device Manager tool in the System block.

The "Device Manager" interface will open. Click on the name of the "Network adapters" block.

A list of network adapters connected to this PC will open. Find in it the name of the adapter or network card through which you are trying to access the world wide web. Right-click on this element and select "Delete" from the drop-down list.

After that, a window will open where you need to click "OK" to confirm the action.

A procedure will start during which the device will be removed.
Now you need to reconnect it, thereby reinstalling the driver, which is required. To do this, click "Action" and select "Update configuration ...".

The hardware configuration will be updated, the network card or adapter will be reconnected, the driver will be reinstalled, which in the end is likely to help fix the problem with the unrecognized network.

In this article, we will deal with a fairly common problem when connecting to wi-fi - "an unidentified network without access to the Internet" or " network without internet access". Starting with the seventh generation of Windows, the operating system itself checks network connections and signals an error if there are problems with access to the Internet. The connection error message appears instantly as soon as the operating system detects that there is a problem.

When the message appears, the error is: " unidentified network without internet access" or " network without internet access»Users decide to seek help from specialists, do not rush, we will try to independently carry out work on connection fixes.

On the territory of the Russian Federation, the IPv6 protocol is actively popularized, but in comparison with other protocols networks, the number of users whose equipment works with its use is still extremely small. Therefore, in this article, we will consider the features of restoring access to the Internet, where the IPv4 protocol is used.

Important: Determine the cause of the malfunction, then solve the problem

What are the reasons for the error?

The main reasons why there may be problems with access to the Internet. The most common are the following:

  • problems from the Internet provider;
  • user equipment (router) is configured incorrectly;
  • reinstalling the OS
  • network protocols are not working correctly.

Problems on the provider side

Important: Make sure that you have paid for the services of the Internet provider, because network access may be limited due to late payment.

It so happens that a few days ago a laptop or computer worked properly, but during the next turn on this error appeared. If before that the system functioned properly, and there were no complaints about it, most likely an error wifi without internet access appeared due to the provider. Before you try to do anything yourself, we strongly recommend that you contact the support representatives. Practice shows that most often an error pops up during technical work, in the absence of a sufficient amount on a personal account, or the data transmission line is damaged.

It is quite possible that the support service will answer that now everything works for them without problems. In this case, you will have to check the network, and if errors are found, try to configure the network yourself. In this case, the Internet provider will offer the help of a full-time specialist.

Physical connection and problems with it

Important: Check the connection of the provider's cable to the router, whether it is connected correctly. The cable should be firmly plugged into the WAN connector until it clicks

One of the common reasons, why does not it work connection to the Internet, there is a poor connection of the pins in the connectors, or a damaged network cable. If children or pets live in the house, the likelihood of encountering a similar problem increases significantly. Even if you use a router, do not forget what the cable is connected to. Make sure the wiring is intact. A strong bend can provoke a lack of connection. Look at the tightness of the plugs into the jacks, and whether they are really inserted in the right place.

Have you checked the wiring, plugs and sockets, but the problem persists? In this case, let's move on.

We are looking for a connection problem in the equipment: router, computer, laptop

Router address: Start ˃˃ System Tools-Windows ˃˃ Command line ˃˃ Enter ipconfig.exe

Reboot the router together with the computer

Important: Routers, PCs and laptops may freeze from time to time.

Knowing about the problem of "freezing" and when an error occurs - " unidentified network without internet access»You need to reboot the equipment and try connect again. I do this: turn off the computer, laptop in the usual way, then restart the router (you can just unplug the plug from the network and wait a minute, then plug the plug into the outlet), then turn on the PC, and then, as the system boots, I restart the PC again.

If the error persists, we connect directly to the computer by inserting the plug of the Internet cable into the corresponding socket. If there is no result and the system again writes without internet access, let's try to check the computer itself.

Checking computer settings

Error - " unidentified network"May appear due to an incorrectly configured network connection configuration, or if changes are made to the network settings after reinstalling the OS: a problem with the correctness of the IP address

Checking algorithm:

IPv4 double click with the left mouse button

Trying both options:

  1. Obtain IP address and DNS automatically
  2. Set static (manually set) IP and DNS parameters
    1. IP address - 192.168.0.4
    2. Default gateway - 192.168.0.1
    3. The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
    4. Preferred DNS - 8.8.8.8
    5. Alternative DNS - 8.8.4.4.

If the item responsible for receiving the settings by the system itself is not ticked, check it and save the changes. Often, after this error, an unidentified network without access to the Internet disappears, and the connection is restored. If not, we continue checking.

How to find the network address of a computer - IPv4

Right-click on the connection, then go to the "Status" line, select the "Information" menu. The new window will contain several lines - in our case, an IPv4 address is required. A numeric value starting with 192.168 onwards is the address of your network.

IPv4 computer network address

Another way:

Start ˃˃ System-Windows ˃˃ Command line ˃˃ Enter ipconfig.exe

Windows command line, ipconfig.exe command

In the text box of the IP address of the PC, you need to set the address of the router (router).

In the text box "Default gateway", "DNS-server", enter the address of the router's Internet protocol (the same IP-address of the router). In conclusion, we confirm our actions by clicking on the "Ok" button.

Second way.

If you are faced with the designation networks "without access to the Internet" - this means that your network does not receive packets from outside. The question arises, what to do and how to fix this problem? There is no one-size-fits-all solution, you will have to try each of the presented methods until you find out the cause and eliminate the unidentified network.

Possible problems with the provider

The first step in these situations is to call your service provider to see if you can access the Internet. On the side of the provider, technical work may be carried out or an unexpected breakdown may appear. In order not to go into the settings in vain, find out the involvement of the supplier.

Call the company's call center, take a look at the official website or page on social networks. As a rule, they write there about urgent problems. If there is no information available, see the comments of other users. Perhaps you are not the only one faced with the fact that the computer does not connect to the network. You cannot solve problems with the provider, so you can only wait.

Cable or connector problems

Next, inspect the LAN cable. Make sure the plugs are intact and not physically damaged. Inspect the wire insulation for kinks. You can try replacing the LAN cable between the router and computer. If using a direct connection, go beyond the partition and onto the site, checking the wire along the entire length. If you find damage, of course, immediately call the online managers. They should send a technician to replace the network cable.

Router problem options

The second most common source of "no network access" messages is a router. The list of common problems includes:

  • choosing the wrong connection type;
  • setting incorrect data of the IP-address or password with a login (when using ADSL, L2PT or similar connections);
  • any restrictions are set in the settings;
  • hardware problem (a swollen capacitor or burned out boards).

In the latter case, you only need the help of specialists or the purchase of a new modem. All software flaws can be eliminated by yourself, provided that the correct actions are taken.

When the computer does not have Internet access, please reboot the router and PC. During the operation of devices, minor failures may occur that are not critical. A reboot will fix these problems. On the computer, just click the button that is responsible for this function or select the corresponding menu item in the "Start" section.

With a modem, everything is easier: press the Power button to turn it off, and then turn on the device again. If there is no such key, simply unplug the power supply.

Settings in the web interface

Setting the wrong parameters in the modem creates a network without access to the Internet. The solution is quite simple: go to the web interface and set the correct parameters. We will go over these steps in detail below.

How do I log into the web interface?

Connect to the modem with a LAN cable directly. To enter the system menu, you need to find out the authorization data (login, password and address to which the transition will be made). You can find this data on a label glued to the body of the device. The fields are named IP-Address, Username and Password. On some models, they are translated into Russian.

Login is done in a couple of steps:

  1. Open a browser on your PC (Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera or standard). Write in the address bar the IP address to log in and press Enter.
  2. On the authorization page, fill in the fields (the first is the username, and the second is the password). Click "Login".

You should be taken to the start page of the router settings.

Checking Internet Connection Settings

Most routers allow multiple connection types. Each of them requires its own parameters:

Problems on a PC or laptop

Try connecting your router to other devices, such as a laptop. Correct operation and the absence of the error "no access to the Internet" indicates problems in the personal computer / laptop, which is used to access the Internet.

Diagnosing problems

Windows operating systems have standard troubleshooting tools. They are not always able to regain access, but they often cope with LAN connection problems. To start the procedure, follow the instructions:

If no malfunctions are found, run additionally the items ("Homegroup" and "Network adapter"). The system will analyze other parameters and possibly find faults there.

Configuring IPV4

Despite the global transition to IP version 6, classic IPV4 is shared, so incorrect address assignment can lead to access errors. You can configure the protocol through the operating system interface:

You can also request addresses from your provider. When using a static connection, you often need to set parameters in the OS itself.

Reinstalling the network card driver

For the correct operation of the hardware in the system, a special driver (specialized software) is used. After installing Windows, it tries to find drivers through its database in order to install them on its own, but it is not always successful. The software versions included in the bundled disc are usually outdated, so we recommend updating the driver via the Internet.

The first and most reliable method is to download the necessary software from the manufacturer's website. Find the section "Drivers / Utilities" or "Support", select your network card model and OS version. Then download the installer, and then simply run it on your computer.

An alternative, but less effective option is to update through the standard functions of the operating system:

  1. Right-click on the "My Computer" icon. Select the "Properties" line.
  2. On the left side of the window, click on "Device Manager".
  3. Find your network adapter. On it, PKM and "Update drivers".

You can also find specialized utilities created to find the latest driver versions for any hardware. A popular software is Driver Genius. The user only needs to start scanning. The utility will find all components that need updating. The functionality allows you to update only selected elements of the system. The software is delivered in Russian.

Changing the MAC address of the network card

Some Internet providers use a connection with a binding to a MAC address. It is a unique identifier assigned to any network equipment. At the hardware level, an ordinary user cannot change the mac-address, since this requires programmers. However, you can change it at the software level, which is enough to connect to the network.

The change is carried out according to the following instructions:

Note that the MAC address is 12 hexadecimal digits. To verify the correctness of the change in the console, enter the ipconfig / all command.

There is a second method of modification through the registry. You need to follow the path of the network card, while changing the value in the NetworkAdress field for the corresponding component.

Firewall check

The problem why the internet is not yet available may be in the firewall. This is a built-in protector in Windows that blocks unwanted connections. If there is an antivirus in the system, you can safely disable it:

Clearing DNS cache and resetting TCP / IP settings

Errors can occur in files related to the TCP or DNS stack. It is recommended to reset the cache for these components:

Enabling FIPS Compliance Mode

In some cases, on OS Windows 7 or later, you will need to activate the Federal FIPS Compliance Mode:

  • Go to the "Status" item of the adapter. Click the Wireless Properties button.
  • Next, go to "Advanced options". Check the box next to "Enable Compatibility Mode ...".

If this feature is enabled, try deactivating it.

If the cable goes directly to the PC (without a router)

With a direct Internet connection to a computer, all methods are relevant except for the section on configuring the router due to the absence of the latter. We also recommend that you recreate the connection again through the "Create a new connection" item.

I have Internet access, but the error persists

The reason for this situation is more often a connection through a proxy server. You need to get into the local group policy editor. Click through the start "Run", and then enter the command shown in the image.

After that, activate the item "Disable active probing for the indicator of the state of the network connection". In Windows 10, this parameter is named differently ("Disable active checks of the health of network connections"). However, remember that no informational messages will appear in case of real access problems.

These are all relevant methods on how to get rid of an unidentified network. If you are a beginner and do not have experience in setting up a router or operating systems, we recommend that you contact a specialist. Unprofessional intervention can only make the situation worse.
