Download programs for smart watches. General sequence for setting up a smart watch. # 4 - find the APK file of the application we need and prepare it for installation

If you have recently become the proud owner of new smart watch based on Android Wear such as Moto 360, LG G Watch or Samsung Gear for example, you may already be interested in how to install the programs you need on them. Below we will tell you everything you need to know about it.

If you have not chosen a watch yet, then you should go here:

When you unbox your shiny brand new smartwatch and set it up to connect to your smartphone (usually following the included instructions), all of a sudden, all the main apps on your smartphone become Android Wear apps too! That is, notifications and alerts should appear on your smartwatch automatically, without additional configuration.

But what about all the other apps? After all, we have a whole app store where you can download a bunch of different smartwatch programs that go beyond simple notifications. Unfortunately, all this wealth will have to be installed in the old fashioned way via a smartphone.

1. Find the apps you want

Kind Google has kindly provided us with a separate gallery of Android Wear apps in their app store - Google play... Most of them, after their update, learned how to do many useful things with your smart watch much more complex and interesting than just sending notifications to them. The number of those that were specially created to work with smartwatches, and not with a smartphone (for example), is constantly growing, but even such programs are installed so far only through the phone.

Also, you can get a selection of suitable programs for your watch by running Android app Wear on your smartphone: select “Recommended Apps” there on the home page.

2. Installing applications

If you have ever installed applications on your smartphone, then consider that you already know how to install them on a smartwatch. For Android Wear apps, this process is identical to installing apps on Android via the Google Play website or the Play app on your phone. Click on the installation confirmation screen (including possible dialogs about payment, in case paid apps) to start downloading the selected application.

Apps designed specifically for Android Wear will be transferred to the smartwatch automatically and will not appear as icons in the app list on your smartphone.

3. Launching applications from a smart watch

If you want to launch the application directly from your smartwatch - there are two options: firstly, tap the screen to wake up the device, then again so that the prompt for a voice command appears (with a red button with the letter "g"), now you can simply say " run the compass "or something else - at your discretion, but this option works if the application itself provides such a command for its own launch (most of course do this, but not all, you also sometimes have to pronounce the name of the application being launched in its native bourgeois language) ... The second option is without a voice, just click on this red "g" button, and scroll down the list that opens, at the bottom there will be a Start button - click on it and select the application you need from the other list that appears.

4. Navigating smartwatches

So, now you see the interface of the application itself, and what to do next depends more on it. However, the usual controls for Android Wear will most likely work the same way: swiping left and right will move you horizontally across the interface elements, if there are more than one, you will see familiar dots along the bottom edge, by the number of which you can judge the number of elements in the application interface ... Some applications allow you to send commands or open websites on your smartphone.

5. Launch from the phone

If you want to work with an app that mostly runs on a smartphone but has a few Android Wear-specific features, just start it up as usual to get started. The functionality related to smartwatches will be automatically activated on Android Wear, i.e. most likely it will not be necessary to get to it through the Start button, which we wrote about above.

For example, if you run google app Camera, on your smartphone (paired with the smartwatch), then the option remote control the phone camera will instantly appear on the smart watch screen (see figure).

6. Configuring notifications

If your smartphone has applications from which you would not want to receive notifications on your smartwatch, run the Android Wear utility that is installed on your Android device. Click on the settings button (two small screws) and select "Disable notifications", then click on the plus sign to add applications to the list, notifications from which will not be received on the clock. That is, these notifications will continue to appear on the smartphone - as usual, but you will not see them on the smart watch.

7. Installing default applications

When you give your smartwatch a voice command, such as "take a note" or "set an alarm," Android Wear launches the program that this moment associated with this command. To change the default associations - open the Android Wear utility on your smartphone and select the appropriate task (command), the list will show all programs that can process the selected task.

If you want to change the program that is responsible for the alarm, for example, find Alarm in this list, press and select the desired program, which will be responsible for it in Android Wear.

What about apps made specifically for your watch? Well, there is a whole store of apps that go beyond simple notifications and exist on your own. Oddly enough, they still need to be installed via a smartphone.

Confused? Don't be, just read our instructions ...

1. Find the apps you want

Google has an entire gallery of Android Wear apps on Google Play - most of these apps have been updated to provide more than just notifications. An increasing number of them have been created specifically for wrist watch, not telephones, but still installed via mobile.

Finding them via your smartphone is very simple: select 'Browse suggested apps' home page.

2. Install your application

Google has an entire gallery of Android Wear apps on Google Play - most of these apps have been updated to provide more than just notifications. An increasing number of them (including the calculator) were created specifically for wristwatches, not phones, but are still installed via mobile.

Finding them using your smartphone is easy: select 'More' next to the Apps section on the start page.

3. Run from device

If you want to open an app from your watch, with the new Lollipop update, then there is a whole list of apps available to choose from before you land on the old list of actions - just tap on any app to start using it. The menu is the first page you see if you swipe left.

4. Watch navigation

This is the first time you get into the app interface, and it all depends on the creators, but basically all Android Wear app creators use the same features: swipe left to see more cards, and right to get rid of them. ...

The dots at the bottom of the display will notify you that more cards are available to view, and in the case of @here, we can focus on our position.

Separate apps will allow you to send commands or links to sites for your smartphone.

5. Launch from the phone

If you want to use an application that is already on your smartphone and has a mini version for Android Wear, then you just need to open it and use it in normal mode. Thanks to Android capabilities Wear it will open automatically when needed.

For example, if you use the Google Camera app on a connected phone, the control functions will automatically open on your Android Wear device.

6. Set up alerts

If you have apps on your phone that you don't want to receive notifications from on your watch, then turn to Android Wear on your phone. Click on the settings icon (tiny cog), then select 'Block notifications from apps' - here you can click on the big plus icon to indicate which apps you don't want to hear.

Notifications from these apps will appear on your smartphone normally, but will not appear on your smartwatch.

You can also customize notifications from the watch itself: swipe down from the top and you can choose between regular and priority notifications. In order to give preference to any application, go to the Sound & notifications page in the settings on your phone or tablet (changing the notification mode on the watch changes it on the phone and vice versa).

7. Configuring default applications

When you give a voice command for how to “take a note” or “add an alarm” to your smartwatch, Android Wear uses any other app associated with that action. To change these default settings, open the application on your smartphone, go to the Tips section and select the appropriate task; any application capable of performing this action (for example, “take a note”) will be listed. Click on 'More Actions' for a complete list.

If, for example, you use alternative application for the alarm, you can set it to work with.

Android Pay Now Available on Android Wear Devices

The only representatives Google do not say when you can pay for purchases with one wave of your hand

Contactless payment technology Android Pay exists on mobile devices USA for about a year, but gained the greatest popularity in England. Unsurprisingly, everyone expected Google to announce that the technology would be rolled out to Android Wear devices as well. But that did not happen. Nevertheless, users do not give up hope that it will appear soon.

The official representative of Google declined to comment, however, he still managed to find out some juicy details of the nearest plans. So, he said:
“The company is not ready to announce anything concrete yet, but we are thinking about it. In the meantime, when you go for a run, you hardly think about it. All you think about is the ability to not carry your phone with you. At the same time, it is important for you to know where you are, well, and some statistics. From your watch you should be able to commit phone call, exchange messages or listen to music, and only in last you're thinking about paying for something, so it's worth postponing for now.
The future Android update Wear 2.0 (in theory) will allow you to use your watch to make NFC payments without using your phone.
Given that there is still time before the update is released, the Android Pay add-on would be a great opportunity to expand the usual functionality. If not, then a separate payment function would definitely not be in the way. The Samsung Gear S2 has a system Samsung Pay, and Apple has long implemented Apple Pay Fitbit with NFC payments will soon catch up. Isn't it time to add your own payment system in a smart watch? What do you think?

Thanks for the likes on the site! Always be a happy, athletic and active person! Write what you think about this, what gadgets do you use and why?

Most Android users are so-called third-party applications (i.e. not from Play Store or even incompatible) on their smartphones and tablets have already learned how to install. But not everyone is still able to install such programs on a smart watch.

And the task is really not that simple.

Any of the third-party applications, unless specifically optimized for installation on a specific , it can easily turn off, moreover, at any time, it may not work at all, it can quickly discharge the battery, etc.

However, if the program is actually needed, and the business of its installation is approached competently, then everything is not as difficult as it might seem. Therefore, let's talk about how to install third party application on smart watch with .

So let's start, as they say, from the very beginning:

# 1 - enable developer mode in smart watch

V and in a normal OS Android given the procedure is actually no different. Those. we press "Settings" -> "System" -> "About device", then we find the line with the build number, tap on it 7 times , after which in " Settings"The previously hidden section" For developers «.

# 2 - activate the option "Debug ADB over Wi-Fi"

In chapter " For developers"Find and enable the option" Debugging with using ADB ", After which we additionally enable the option" Debugging over Wi-Fi "And wait a bit while the smartwatch connects to the WiFi network. In fact, the IP-address will appear on the screen, you need to remember it, but it is better to write it down (let it be 192.168.0.22:8888 ).

# 3 - install Minimal ADB and Fastboot

Now we need a computer (you can Windows-PC, you can Mac) with an installed utility called Minimal ADB and Fastboot ... You can download it, for example, from here (XDA forum).

# 4 - find the APK file of the application we need and prepare it for installation

We search for the APK of the application either in catalogs on the Internet, or download it from the Play Store, followed by running it through the APK downloader ( this e.g. insert a link to a page and click " Generate Download Link "). If necessary, come up with a name for the APK so as not to lose it.

Now through Conductor find and open the folder C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Minimal ADB and Fastboot , create a new folder in it, write its name, like the new APK, and then copy and paste our APK file into it.

# 5 - connect Minimal ADB and Fastboot to Android Wear

Launch ADB on your computer and enter the command in the utility window adb connect + smartwatch IP, i.e. in the end we get:

adb connect 192.168.0.22:8888

Press Enter and allow the device to be connected.

# 6 - copy the APK file to your smartwatch

To do this in ADB, first enter the command

adb push apps / APK file name / sdcard /

where instead of " APK file name"We register the name of our APK.

Press Enter and wait for the copying procedure to complete (a notification will appear on the screen).

# 7 - install a new app on a smart watch

In ADB we write:

adb -e install apps / apk file name

where, you guessed it, instead of " APK file name»You must specify the correct name.

We press Enter and wait a little more while the application is installed (in fact, it will also appear on the notification).

On this with the installation - everything. It remains only to find the program in the list of installed applications and try to launch it. As we said, a third-party application can behave differently. Especially if the program was not originally intended for smart watches (performance is not enough, the screen does not fit, etc.). If it still didn't work, delete it and try to find a similar one in functionality.

After completing work with ADB without fail

close the connection correctly

To do this, in the Minimal ADB and Fastboot utility window, write adb disconnect and click Enter... Then you can disable the option " Debug ADB"And close the section" For developers"In the smart watch settings. Just in case.
