Huawei 8 pro. Bluetooth is a standard for secure wireless data transfer between various devices of different types over short distances

Huawei this year decided to break all records for blurring its family. Yes, of course, Honor is not Huawei, we all actively pretend that these are unrelated companies. But it doesn’t work out very well, to be honest: even Nubia and ZTE manage to mentally separate things better. So the new two versions of Honor 8 are a little puzzling. If he himself, with his glass body, non-standard design and pronounced “I”, fit well into last year’s the lineup between and , then Honor 8 Pro will directly bite off the audience from Huawei P10, and Honor 8 lite with a price of 15 thousand rubles will fall into the niche of Honor 6X.

However, who are we to talk about the model policy of huge companies. Corporate ways are inscrutable. Let's talk better about the smartphone itself, which threatens to become one of the most interesting models of spring. Honor 8 Pro has in common with the founder of the series only the name and design of the front panel with the word Honor at the bottom. Glass body became a thing of the past, giving way to traditional metal, the Kirin 950 was replaced by the Kirin 960 (as in the P10), more random access memory and the display grew by half an inch, which also increased in resolution (now Quad HD). But the camera (or rather, cameras - there are, of course, two sensors and two lenses) was left without external changes, but it works a little differently (I’ll talk about this below). In essence, we are dealing with a slightly modified and simplified Huawei version P10 Plus, only 10 thousand rubles cheaper. Tempting.

Design, ergonomics and software

Huawei does not stop looking for its own path in smartphone design - even if this activity is not at all necessary: the company is doing excellently even without a distinct “I” for its gadgets. The search is being conducted in a variety of directions - if the Mate series has gained some kind of stability, then the flagships of the P line (formerly Ascend P) this year unexpectedly returned to imitating the iPhone. In Honor 8, the company found an interesting recipe with iridescent glass - and it would be logical if the Pro version was also made according to it.

But, alas, this did not happen, Honor 8 Pro is a device made of high quality, from good materials (the front panel is covered with 2.5D glass, the back panel along with the sides is metal), but it definitely lacks personality. Especially in the black version we got - the blue and gold ones look noticeably more interesting.

But they are not free from the typical problem of all gadgets with matte metal on the back panel - it gets dirty, and even if fingerprints are not too obvious, they are not easy to wipe off. But on the front glass, the oleophobic coating is quite effective - and it’s worth noting this in a separate line, because the same P10 and P10 Plus have problems with it. The metal back, however, also has an advantage compared to the glass of the regular Honor 8 - the gadget does not slip out of your hand.

In terms of dimensions, Honor 8 Pro is quite adequate to its competitors - only the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8, on which the display occupies almost the entire front panel. The Huawei device is more classical - there are almost no side frames, there are no controls under the screen (only the Honor logo), but it is difficult to work with this 5.7-inch gadget with one hand.

I’ll especially note the thickness of the device - only 7 mm, this is one of the thinnest smartphones in its class.

If you have set yourself the goal of using powerful, beautiful and modern smartphone, then we recommend paying attention to Honor 8 pro. The device, for a stated price of 15,000 rubles, is equipped with an eight-core HiSilicon Kirin 960 processor and 6 GB of RAM; it is worth adding that this configuration is enough for both power-hungry applications and most modern games. And a well-thought-out shell along with quality cameras only add to the pleasant feeling of getting to know each other. If we talk about the matrix, then a realistic color gamut is simply ensured, and at the same time, we also have a high image resolution. In general, we can recommend Honor 8 Pro for a detailed and intimate acquaintance, as in a given price range it is difficult to find something more suitable.

Honor 8Pro: Introduction

To emerge from the shadow of parent company Huawei, Honor has focused on performance and distinctive shapes.

Honor smartphones always offer maximum performance without breaking your bank account. The Honor 8 Pro, however, is something different.

The phone company is worried about its big brother flagships, like , it is a flagship smartphone that boasts of features, but it has miscalculated on the price.

The Honor 8 Pro is a 5.7-inch phablet capable of offering performance and a high-quality finish, indicating that the baby has grown into a serious contender.

On paper, the smartphone is a clear winner. But paper doesn't tell the whole story. It's a great smartphone, but not flawless.

Yes, its screen is very beautiful, and there's a decent dual-lens camera on the back, but despite the first steps in the right direction, some of the manufacturer's signature shortcomings still shine through.

Honor 8Pro: Release date and price

  • The release date for Honor 8 Pro in Russia is April 20;
  • PriceHonor 8Pro – 35,000 rubles;

The most expensive Honor smartphone to date, Honor 8 Pro stands side by side with flagship competitors in price and characteristics; at the start, the Honor 8 Pro price was 35,000 rubles.

While that's a significant amount by any standards, compared to phones around the likes of the iPhone 7 Plus, the 8 Pro is very affordable.

Not cheap, of course, but closer to decent value for money than most competitors. It, like most other smartphones, will not be able to match the pricing of the OnePlus 3T (26,000 rubles).

In addition, it is much more difficult to buy Honor 8 Pro outside of Russia; for example, the manufacturer did not say a word about a release in the USA or Australia.

Age is catching upHonor

  • Lightning-fast fingerprint scanner;
  • Huge 4000 mAh battery;
  • A whopping 6 GB of RAM;

Despite the asking price and the smaller brand logo that flies proudly across the front and back, the Honor 8 Pro is the epitome of everything that makes a high-end flagship phone.

This is a smartphone that doesn't cut corners; instead, the manufacturer offers a set of components available in more expensive smartphones.

For those who need performance to spare, the Honor 8 Pro fits the bill. It's powered by the same Huawei-made octa-core Kirin 960 processor that we saw on the Mate 9 and 10 Plus, offering four 2.4GHz A73 cores with four 1.8GHz A53 cores. The chipset is backed by a massive 6GB of RAM.

All this power is demonstrated in practice. Combined with a notoriously strong interface based on the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system, the Honor 8 Pro we reviewed handles any task with ease.

This is a smartphone that can do much more than basic tasks. However, of course, performance is not the only strong point of a smartphone.

For example, there's not one but two 12-megapixel cameras on the back, each with an f/2.2 lens, as well as an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie fans. On paper, this puts the smartphone on par with the iPhone 7 Plus. But, as we have already said, pieces of paper do not tell the whole story.

Unlike a smartphone Apple, which includes a wide-angle and a telephoto lens, the Honor 8 Pro is equipped with a pair of standard lenses, one of which is monochrome. As a result, the most effective photographs are in black and white, while traditional photographs are unremarkable.

Honor 8 Pro is accessible telephone compared to many flagships. Compared to the OnePlus 3T, however, it is very expensive.

OnePlus has rewritten the rules regarding affordable smartphones, offering high-end characteristics. And while the dual lens is the main one Honor cameras offers some difference, along with virtually unmatched performance, OnePlus smartphone feels better polished, finished and thought out.
