The bell in the apartment stopped working. Features of wireless calls, installation sequence and possible breakdowns. The wireless bell does not work. Wireless bell scheme: various manufacturing options

The store can offer you two options for doorbells with a button: wireless and wired.

The most interesting and convenient choice is a wireless bell; its installation does not require wiring.

It transmits a signal over a distance of 50 or more meters, which is very convenient not only in apartments, but also in private houses, since there is no need to pull a wire from the gate to the residential area.

However, wireless calls have one major drawback - they run on batteries that have to be changed frequently.

In this regard, traditional wired doorbells are much more practical, especially when it comes to a city apartment, where all the wires have already been removed by builders.

A wired bell works roughly the same principle as any lighting fixture in a room: one of the two power wires of the audio device is fed directly, and the other - to the break (via a button). When the button is pressed, the circuit is closed and the signal is triggered.

This is how a standard wiring diagram for a doorbell button looks like:

Connecting the doorbell button - instructions and rules

You can connect a wired doorbell yourself.

You just need to have it at hand necessary tools and materials:

 • Electric drill with a drill for concrete,
 • Dowel-nails of a suitable diameter;
 • Screwdriver with indicator;
 • Copper two-core wire with a cross section of 0.5 sq. Mm. and a cable channel - they will be needed if the wires are not laid;
 • Construction knife;
 • Side cutters;
 • Insulating tape.

A typical wiring diagram for a wired doorbell is no different from a light switch wiring diagram.

The only difference is that instead of a lamp, a sound device is used, and instead of a switch, a button.

What wire to put on the bell button - phase or zero? Zero is connected directly to the sound mechanism, and the phase is fed to it through the button.

If you have moved to a new building and are going to connect a call, use the following instructions:

 1. Disconnect the power supply to the electrical distribution board;
 2. Choose the most suitable place to install the sound mechanism in the apartment and the button near the front door. The optimal installation height of the bell button is 145-150 centimeters;
 3. Lay a wire that will connect all elements of the circuit;
 4. Secure the button and sound mechanism by removing the front covers to provide access to the wire terminals;
 5. Zero connect directly to the sound mechanism;
 6. Connect the button phase to the doorbell phase;
 7. Connect a phase from the sound mechanism to the corresponding terminal of the junction box;
 8. To connect the button, disassemble its body in accordance with the instructions and fix it on 2 dowel-nails. Connect two wires to the button contacts - you can connect the wires to the bell button in any order;
 9. Recheck that the wires are connected correctly.

Why might the doorbell button not work?

There may be several reasons why the beep does not sound when the bell button is pressed:

 1. The sound mechanism itself is not working properly. To check this, you should try to apply voltage to the bell terminals directly. If the signal does not work even in this case, the cause is a broken sound device.
 2. The button does not work. Typically, the reason is that the bridge is not closing contacts. You can check this by connecting the contacts with a jumper (for example, a screwdriver). Contact may be lost due to the formation of oxide on the bridge, which in most cases is made of a copper alloy. The problem in most cases is solved by cleaning the bridge and contacts.
 3. The connection "button-beeper" is not correct. Zero should go to the call through the button, and the phase should go directly to the sound mechanism. To fix the problem, check if the connection is correct and correct the error.
 4. The integrity of the wire is broken. To check the serviceability of the circuit (presence / absence of breaks in it), ring the wire with a multimeter (tester).

Attention! When performing the above manipulations, it should be borne in mind that the doorbell operates from a 220 V network.

Basic safety precautions must be followed when working with electrical appliances.

Answers to frequently asked questions about doorbell button security

If the bell is installed indoors, no additional measures to protect the button are required. It is quite a different matter when the bell button is installed outdoors, where it is exposed to moisture and temperature extremes.

 1. How to protect the call button from rain? For these purposes, you can build a small visor from any available means. However, it is better to purchase a ready-made waterproof button. Additionally, it will not be superfluous to treat the surface with hydrophobic (water-repellent) agents.
 2. Are there anti-vandal doorbell buttons for outdoor installation? Yes, there is special buttons in a rugged, ergonomic metal housing. They are sold separately, cost about 200-300 rubles.

Probably most of us have come across various wireless calls, especially in a country house. Indeed, the gate from the country house is usually located far away, and you want to close this gate more tightly from uninvited traders and dogs. On the other hand, the neighbors will not get through to you - you are drinking tea at home, and behind the gate a neighbor shouts - "Hosts!" Agree - the situation is familiar. It is clear that the ideal option is to hang an intercom. But this is money and not everyone is ready to buy such a device, especially for a summer cottage, where in winter they can even steal food, not like equipment. A simpler option is to call. But very often you don't want to pull wires from the house to the gate, and in some cases it just doesn't work. And here we are helped by numerous wireless calls, which, for quite reasonable price, can be bought in almost every store. At the same time, manufacturers assure that this is a complete alternative to a regular call, only much more convenient and without any problems with installation. But having bought such a call, a person quickly discovers a very high consumption of batteries in the call itself (i.e. in the part that is at home). It comes to the point that the most powerful batteries (which are far from cheap) last for about a month. As a result, a person is either constantly forced to "feed" the device with more and more new batteries, or he stops using it. But this problem has a very simple solution that can reduce battery consumption by orders of magnitude. In today's post I will tell you how to make a reliable and economical device out of a regular wireless call.

But first, a little theory: A wireless call consists, in fact, of a transmitter and a signal receiver, i.e. we are dealing with a one-way radio exchange. In such a situation, the task of the transmitter, upon a signal from the user, is to generate a radio pulse of maximum power at a specific time. Hence the power supply of the bell button, into which the transmitter is integrated, from a 12V battery. But this device generates signals very rarely, only when someone presses a button. Accordingly, energy is consumed only at the moment of signal generation, and the rest of the time the battery is not discharged. Well, since a bell is not a piano, usually a small battery lasts at least a year, or even two or three. Everything, of course, also depends on the distance to the receiver (the longer the signal transmission distance, the earlier the call performance will be disrupted when the transmitter battery is consumed). Well, and from obstacles on the way (for a signal to pass through iron or stone obstacles, the charge power is required much more than when transmitting a signal through a wall wooden house). But in general, it can be argued that the battery in the transmitter "lives" for a long time.

Another thing is the receiver, which is installed in the house. This device is forced to constantly work "for reception", i.e. be turned on and track the signal of the transmitter, so that when it appears, it will notify those around you with a call. It does not require a lot of power, but constant work is needed, therefore, as a rule, the receiver uses three AA batteries, each 1.5V (however, as a rule, only two batteries work on the receiver itself, but we will return to this below) ...

Accordingly, constant work "on reception" quickly drains the batteries. As a result, it is the receiver, which seems to be located in the house and is not subject to, say, frost, that "eats" batteries much faster than the transmitter on the street. By personal experience I will say that the blue "encoders" become unusable in about a month, respectively, everything else will "wear out" much faster. I generally keep quiet about the batteries (you are tortured to charge).
Such energy consumption is very inconvenient, and the point here is not even the cost (well, in all honesty, 100 rubles a month is not such an amount), but the fact that most often you just forget to change the batteries in time and, as a result, a guest who you need it, it just doesn't get into the house. It is good if he has a phone number, but if he is a random neighbor passing by your apiary and noticing a swarm that has flown away ...

And so, we found out that the main problem with wireless calls is the fast discharge of the batteries in the receiving device. But how can you avoid this?

The answer, I think, is on the surface - to power it from the mains. Yes, indeed, powering from a 220V network can solve the problem of battery power consumption. But how to do that? I think those who are at least a little familiar with the electric train will say "through an adapter" and, in fact, will be right. However, if you connect power from the 4.5V adapter to the contacts in the battery compartment of the call receiver, the device will not work in 80% of cases. So what's the deal? What if this is your case?

And the fact is that many wireless calls have a "tricky" scheme in the receiver - there the board itself is powered by 3V, and the speaker from 4.5V for higher volume. If you disassemble the receiver, you can see that the first two batteries in the circuit power only the receiver board, and all together they already power the speaker. Accordingly, in order to start the operation of the device from the adapter, you need to connect the power supply of the board and the speaker and apply a voltage between the values of 3V and 4.5V to the common contact. I would recommend something in the 3.5-4V range with mandatory stabilization.

In principle, the connection of the contacts is done "one-two" and even without a soldering iron (although soldering is still more reliable), the power supply is another matter. It's good if there is a suitable one, but in my case, for example, this was not the case (as, I think, most people will not, since 90% of all adapters in the house of an average person are charges from those who have already spent their cell phones and players, and their voltage is higher than required). And even if you have found an adapter with a suitable voltage, do not rush to rejoice. First, check its real voltage with a tester - very often Chinese adapters give out a voltage much higher than what is written on their case. Remember that power supply more than 4V can "kill" the call receiver.

In principle, a stabilized voltage lowering circuit can be soldered on resistors and diodes, but for this you need to have at least some idea of what needs to be done. Here I will not go into such details and will explain "for dummies" what you need to take to get the required voltage.

To begin with, take any 5V adapter (say iPhone charging from the outlet, just not native, but primitive Chinese production, since it actually gives out a little more than the prescribed voltage). Personally, I used a similar adapter from an old player.

Next, you take the adapter for powering the same iPhone from the car's network, disassemble it, take out the board, and hum the charging output contacts for the iPhone from the network at the place where the power is supplied to the car models (12V) (just watch the polarity). Accordingly, at the place of leaving the charging voltage for the phone, the car adapter solder the wires to power the call. And that's all. The car adapter for charging the phone lowers the current approximately the way we need it, while being protected from electricity fluctuations. This is exactly what we need. Moreover, all charging device you can buy the same "Auchan" at a price of 100 rubles per item (which will pay off after two months of using the call).

Then you can insulate the board, but not necessarily - there will be no harm from a voltage of 5V, insulation is needed rather to protect the board itself from accidental influences. For me personally, it looks like this.

The topic of our article today is the technology of connecting an electric bell. Sooner or later you will have to install a new or replace the old device. Oddly enough, but you may have difficulties with confusion in the wires, which, as a rule, should be 4. Next, we will tell you how to connect a doorbell in an apartment or house, attaching all the necessary diagrams and photos to the instructions.

Wireless

The easiest way is to connect a wireless bell, because this does not require dealing with electrical wiring. Most of the time, the button and the main unit are battery operated, so all you need is to fix all the elements on the wall. The button can be put on double-sided tape, or you can drill a small hole in the wall and drive in a dowel-nails. The doorbell itself can also be wall-mounted or simply placed on a cabinet in a suitable room. In some models of wireless devices, the buttons are battery operated, and the main unit must be plugged into an outlet, as shown in the photo below. In this case, there should be no difficulties in connection either.

By the way, it is recommended to install the button at a height of 1.5 meters from the floor. This height is considered the most comfortable for turning on / off the signal. As for the optimal one, we talked about this in the corresponding article.

The clear advantage of the wireless model

Wired

Much more questions arise if you need to connect an electric doorbell to a 220 Volt network. In this case, the actions are similar - a phase is started up to the button to break, and zero goes directly to the main block. You can clearly see the layout of the conductors in this diagram:

So, if you settled in a new building or want to install a doorbell in the house, then you need to act as follows:

 • Select the most suitable locations for the button and main unit.
 • Disconnect the input circuit breakers on the switchboard.
 • Make a hole in the wall for the cable to connect the circuit elements. In order not to bump into other wires when chasing, we recommend that you find out.
 • From the finished hole, pass the grooves to the installation site of the button and doorbell. You can do without this step if you post open wiring to.
 • Fasten all elements to the walls, immediately remove the front cover to gain access to the wiring terminals.
 • Connect the zero directly to the main unit.
 • Connect the button phase with the doorbell phase.
 • Connect the phase from the bell to the appropriate terminal in the junction box.
 • If the apartment has grounding and the same terminal is present in the main unit, be sure to ground the bell.
 • Check the correct connection and turn on the machines on the dashboard. Check if the device works.

This is how you can connect a doorbell in an apartment with your own hands. Sometimes you need to replace the device and the connection technology will be slightly different. In case of replacement, you will see that 4 wires go out from the wall into the apartment. First you need to decide which wire is responsible for what. We recommend using an indicator for this. We talked about that in the corresponding article

So, after ringing all the wires, most likely, the picture will be as follows - on one of the wires you will find a voltage of 220 V, others will not ring. This means that from the wall there are:

 1. phase from the network 220 (the indicator worked on it);
 2. zero from the network 220;
 3. wire going to the button;
 4. wire coming from it.

To connect a call with your own hands, you first need to turn off the light in the apartment, then connect the 1st and 3rd wires. Accordingly, you must connect the second and fourth wires to the main unit, then turn on the machines on the dashboard and check if the circuit works.

Goodnight! :) I would like to tell you about my recent purchase in this review. All under the cut ⇒ I live in a private house, and in order not to conduct wiring there (not to reinvent the wheel) I decided to buy a doorbell. At first I wanted to buy on Bike, but there they are SOLD OUT. I bought it on FP. I ordered it together with the tablet, came in record time for 17! days. Delivery set Button (well, which is at the door) Receiver Battery 2/3 AAA (First time in my life I meet such a battery) There is one button with three modes: 1.OFF (off) 2.ON / Spins one melody 3.ON / Spins 36 melodies in turn
Installation is very easy.
Working range 80 meters. I didn't check 80 meters, I checked 20 meters through the walls. Everything is working.
The receiver needs 2 AAA batteries

The button was installed in the best village traditions. Attached the button to the screws. Above type protection from precipitation :)
The box says that the battery will last a year at 20 clicks a day. Let's see, while it works for 2 months. There is a minus: it does not work on the block (the blue strip should glow when pressed) Refund did not ask - I do not need a backlight. It turns out: "The intelligent design of the flashlight brings convenience to the deaf." Thought - I don't know what to wish :), soon morning - I wish you good morning and a good day :)

Do not open under any circumstances.

Didn't you wait? :)
My kamazik from childhood :) The cat ran away somewhere ... Vooot. If you liked the review, please click +. I am ready to answer your questions, dear readers.

About the holiday?

Looked at the date of the review - it turns out already on May 1st. So I congratulate all working people and not so working people on the holiday of spring and labor. I wish you good work and a good spring (?) :)

How to fix a doorbell? We fix the call with our own hands

Required tools

In order to carry out work on the repair of a door lock, it is worth preparing some tools that will be useful in the work:

 • screwdriver;
 • rubber gloves;
 • nippers;
 • indicator screwdriver;
 • fork;
 • power socket;
 • two table lamps.

Sequence of actions when repairing a call

So, if all the tools specified in the paragraph above are prepared, then you can start working.

Step 1 Power outage

In order to start repairing the door lock, you must first de-energize it. But it is worth considering the fact that the table lamp must also be powered by something. To do this, turn off just one automatic traffic jam. Most often, the doorbell is powered by the same machine as the chandelier, so you need to turn on the chandelier and turn off the plugs in turn until it turns off. After the required plug is disconnected, you can start working. In this case, it will be possible to connect to the outlet desk lamp.

Step 2 Check for a network break

Before proceeding with the repair, it is necessary to check the network for a break. To do this, you must, after putting on gloves, remove the insulation from the bell wires. Then you need to temporarily connect the socket to the wires, and connect the lamp to the socket. After that, you should turn on the corresponding machine. If the lamp turns on, there is no network break. If the inclusion did not occur, then this is direct evidence of a network break. This breakdown should not be eliminated. on their own, and an electrician must be called.

Step 3 Checking the equipment with an ohmmeter

Again, you need to turn off the corresponding machine. Then you need to unplug the temporary outlet. After that, it is worth connecting an ohmmeter to the wires, holding them by the insulated parts. Your partner must press the button, and if at this moment the arrow deviates, then this means that both the wire and the button are in good condition.

Step 4 If the arrow on the ohmmeter does not deviate

If the arrow does not deviate, then you need to disassemble the button. Then check the tightness of the ohmmeter contacts and carry out the check procedure again. If necessary, clean the button contacts. Also, in order to avoid burnout, it is necessary to check the contacts to see if they are constantly busy.

Step 5 Verify the call

After all the above activities have been carried out, it is worth checking it. To do this, you need to connect all the contacts in place, turn on the appropriate machine and make trial run... If after that the call does not work, then it cannot be repaired. You need to buy a new device and install it as indicated in the instructions from the manufacturer. If the call started working, it means that you did a good job. It is necessary to attach all the elements in place so that the wires do not get tangled or stick out.

Wireless call - advantages, disadvantages and varieties

A high-quality wireless call to the front door of an apartment or house is in no way inferior to its wired counterpart, and even surpasses it in the convenience of installation and dismantling. The signal transmission unit can be so miniature that outwardly wireless call models are no different from ordinary ones. They are equipped with a video peephole, combined with a motion sensor, backlight, anti-vandal cover and other little things to increase the comfort of use.

Key features of wireless calling patterns

When choosing any thing, first of all it is worth assessing how it will fit the conditions in which it will be used. To understand exactly whether it is worth installing a wireless call at home, you need to evaluate their features in more detail:

 • No need to pull wires from the button to the speaker. This is the main difference that often influences the choice of this type of device for a private house, in which a friendly dog runs between them to the front door.

Here you can install an ordinary wired bell without any problems, but it is best to bury the wire from it underground. Otherwise, it may stand out somewhat in the design of the yard.

 • Autonomous food. Since wireless calls run on batteries, when the lights are turned off, guests will not have to call the owner from the street for a long time. It is also a determining factor for suburban areas to which there is no electricity. Powering from batteries at the same time creates certain inconveniences associated with their periodic replacement, but here you really have to choose which is more important.
 • The wireless bell cannot be installed everywhere. It is necessary to look at the distance from the receiver to the transmitter and at the presence of obstacles between them that impede the passage of the radio signal.
 • If the house has more than one door (or gate), but several, then you can purchase an electric call with two buttons. This will significantly reduce the cost of their installation compared to wired models.

 • Easy assembly, disassembly and transfer of the button. This feature is rarely in demand, but if you need to move the gate, change the side of its opening or install mailbox exactly where the button is located, it will be much easier to do this. If you inevitably have to shift the wiring with a standard call, then the wireless one is simply outweighed.

There may also be one of the drawbacks here - some manufacturers make call buttons with Velcro, which can fall off quickly enough if they are of poor quality. If such a call is being bought, then it is necessary to assess whether it is worth additionally screwing it onto the screws.

The scheme and principle of operation of wireless calls

For an ordinary user, the principle of operation of wireless calls is very simple - the transmitter button is pressed, the radio signal from it goes to the receiver, activates an electrical circuit there that supplies voltage to the speakers and plays a melody.

Despite the fact that the diagram of the device is rarely applied to it by the manufacturer, numerous radio amateurs have adopted the remote control method of the device itself, making not only calls with their own hands, but also various control devices - a wireless light switch or a remote garage door lift.

The circuits of these devices are easy to manufacture and unpretentious in operation. The first two are separate boards for the button and the receiver, and the third scheme does not even require any configuration - a conventional supergenerator is used as a receiver and, according to user reviews, everything is highly stable.

Video peephole for wireless call

The general scheme of installing a bell on the door can allow you to remotely monitor the entrance or the street. If a video peephole with a camera is installed on the front door or in the gate, then inside the house you can immediately see who is calling. Depending on the device model, the image transmitted by the video eyelet is displayed on a separate receiving display or transmitted to an ordinary computer monitor. In this case, the quality of the picture is determined by the camera that is installed in the video eye.

When choosing such a device scheme, it must be borne in mind that a video eyelet with a camera requires more solid power. The main solutions to this problem are as follows:

 • The choice of a high-quality kit with minimal power consumption (if you need to record constantly).
 • The scheme provides for using the camera only after pressing the call button (the video peephole records only those who called).
 • The video peephole with the camera is powered separately from the network. It would seem, why then a wireless call, but this scheme is also common enough.

 • The connection diagram should be equipped with a motion sensor (a video eyelet with a camera starts working when someone walks by - useful if there are people with an inadequate sense of humor at the entrance).

Depending on why it is planned to install a video peephole with a camera, the resolution of the latter is selected - what quality it will shoot a picture. It should also be borne in mind that the higher the resolution, the more data will be transmitted by the camera over the radio channel per unit of time and the more demanding this circuit is to power.

Nuances when choosing a wireless call

Like conventional models, wireless doorbells for the front door must be chosen according to certain rules, especially if the purchase of such a thing is made for the first time, and there is no experience in operating such devices.

Distance

The main quality for a wireless call is the radius and strength of the signal that is transmitted from the button to the speaker. If there are 5-10 meters between them, then this indicator is hardly worth paying close attention to, and when it is supposed to use the device at a distance of 50-150 meters, then it is better to test it before buying and agree with the seller about an exchange or refund, if necessary. the place, this electric call will still not work. This is also quite possible - you can't see with your eyes whether there are obstacles in the path of the signal or not.

Nutrition

The number of batteries required to operate the device, what types are used and how often they will need to be changed. Hardly anyone will answer the last question truthfully, but if the seller praises the unprecedented efficiency, then it is worth considering. For battery type special attention you should not pay - the main thing is that they can be freely purchased.

Equipment

Everything is simple here - you need to check with your passport so that everything is in place. You should be especially attentive to a call equipped with a video eyelet, several buttons and other additional little things. If at home it turns out that some part is missing, then at best you will have to go back, and at worst you will have to prove that this is a factory incompleteness, and not the loss of spare parts due to the buyer's fault.

Overpayment

Possibility to purchase a simpler model. If the call requires it to just ring, then buying a device that can be connected to a computer in order to record your ringtone into it and overpay for it twice or three times - most likely it makes no sense.

Mount

Velcro can leave traces of glue on the surface if you rearrange the button, and the screw will have to be screwed into the wall or front door. The velcro may fall off and the screw must be screwed in once. Which is better - you have to choose according to the situation.

Manufacturer's warranty

There is nothing to break down in simple calls, and it can be more expensive to take it for repairs than buying a new device, but it is advisable to clarify this issue. If you buy a model with a camera, an internal screen and a motion sensor, then you need not just pay attention to the warranty, but insist on filling out all the documents.

Electronics can last 10 years, or it can fail after a couple of months, especially if it is used occasionally.

General impression

In addition to the fact that the device must be beautiful, one must look at the quality of the materials from which it is made. If you are purchasing a street bell, then it is better to choose a button with an anivandal body. Next, pay attention to the melody that you have to listen to every day and choose a device from a manufacturer. The last point is quite important - many characteristics of the device and the quality of its warranty service depend on it.

You can clearly see how the wireless street bell works in the following video:

Ring setting

Based on the size of the button and the functionality of the device itself, a place for their installation is also selected. The choice here is not rich - it is necessary that the button be clearly visible, and if it is an entrance, then it should be clear to which door it belongs.

 • The wall near the door. This place for fastening is most often used - if the button is with Velcro, then its fastening depends on whether the wall is painted or whitewashed. In the first case, the surface must be thoroughly degreased, and in the second, it is better to use a screw.
 • Platband or door leaf. Everything is extremely simple - the usual fastening on a self-tapping screw.
 • In the gate of a private house. Here you need to think more not about where and how to screw the button, but how to protect it from direct rays of the sun, rain and other atmospheric phenomena.

Also, in a private house, you should think about a call with two speakers in order to duplicate the call signal to the workshop, garden and other places where the owners can often and for a long time.

When installing speakers inside the house, there are two options - if it's just a bell, then install it as inconspicuously as possible, but taking into account that, you may have to turn off or change the melody, for which you need relatively free access to it. If using a surveillance monitor and intercom, then for them you need to make a separate stand or use a niche in the wall for this (if any).

How does a wireless call work: types of devices, differences

In the age of modern technologies, more and more new gadgets appear to make our life more comfortable and to simplify our work. One such device is the wireless doorbell, which replaced its outdated counterparts. This simple, compact device can have many functions, and its installation is so easy that it doesn't require any special skills or special tools.

Wireless doorbell

Recently, such devices have become more and more popular. So what is the secret of this demand? The answer lies in how the bell works.

Operating principle

To make it easier to understand how a radio call works, let's first look at the principle of a regular wired call. It consists of two parts connected by a wire. The outer part is a button that is installed outside the front door. The second inner part is a signal receiving device with a speaker. It connects to the mains. When you press the button on the external device, a signal starts to flow to the internal device through the wire, then it is converted and sent to the speaker, as a result of which a call is heard.

The principle of operation of a wireless doorbell is similar, the only difference is that the signal from the button (transmitter) is sent to the internal device (receiver) via radio waves, and not wires. For this, the transmitter and receiver have mini-antennas, through which the signal is transmitted. In most modern devices of this type, the microcircuit circuit plays the role of an antenna. This makes them compact.

Such wireless devices are especially popular not only among apartment owners, but also among people who have private houses. This is due to the fact that you do not need to drill walls, lay wires through the air or underground from the gate or gate to the house. In addition, the range of such calls can be up to 150 meters, which is a definite plus.

Varieties of wireless doorbells

There are many different models of wireless doorbells available today. They differ in price, configuration, functionality and type of power supply, reliability and scope.

Models of such gadgets are presented in various configurations. They can have several buttons paired with one receiver. This is useful if there are multiple entrances to a building or area.

Wireless doorbell with two buttons

But there are options with multiple receivers operating from one button. Such receivers also have many advantages. For example, they are installed in places where usually the doorbell may not be heard (kitchen, bathroom, garage, etc.).

Wireless chime with two receivers

If the distance between the button and the speaker is more than the range of the device, then it can be supplemented with a repeater, which will significantly increase the range. The principle of its operation is that it simultaneously performs the functions of a receiver and a transmitter. A repeater tuned to both devices receives the signal from the transmitter and transmits it to the receiver.

The following main types of devices are distinguished by the type of power source:

 • The transmitter and receiver operate on batteries or rechargeable batteries.
 • Battery powered transmitter and mains powered receiver.
 • The transmitter works by pressing (without batteries), and the receiver - from the mains or batteries (accumulator).

The first type is the most common as it is simple and does not require a network connection; the transmitter and receiver only need to be inserted in either AA or AAA batteries, depending on the model. The second type is less common, but more economical, since the speaker, connected to the mains, consumes little power, and it does not require constantly changing batteries to operate. There are two options here: the receiver is plugged into an outlet or the wires are connected to it. But the third type is very promising. Its essence lies in the fact that the transmitter starts to work by pressing a button. That is, when pressed, enough energy is generated to send a signal to the receiver. This type is very popular among owners of private houses, since in winter, in the cold, batteries are quickly discharged, and batteries lose their capacity much faster.

Wireless doorbell models also differ in functionality. The main difference is the number of melodies played. In budget options, there are usually no more than ten of them. In expensive models, there are better speakers, and the set of melodies is an order of magnitude larger. In addition, some models provide the ability to download your own tunes or sounds via electronic media or wireless connection. In the more expensive configurations of such devices, the functions of a vibration alert or a light indicator of a bell are also provided. This is very convenient if someone is resting in the house, but it is necessary to know that guests have come.

More advanced models can be equipped with a surveillance camera, video intercom and motion sensor. The sensor is triggered when movement starts at a distance of several meters from the door, it turns on the camera and records what is happening. Thus, such devices can become part of the system " smart home"Or security systems, if configured correctly.

Wireless call with camera and motion sensor

Depending on the purpose, there are two main types of wireless calls: outdoor and indoor. The first is usually chosen by the owners of private houses, and the second - by the owners of apartments. Since outdoor means the transmitter is installed outdoors, it must have such qualities as resistance to ultraviolet rays, moisture resistance and shock resistance.

For more durable operation, most models are equipped with a small visor that is installed above the button and protects the device from rain or direct sunlight. In addition, the body of such a button must be sealed to protect the filling from dust or moisture. If protection from vandals is needed, then, as a rule, they put a receiver in a metal case, the button itself is also made of metal.

Therefore, before deciding which call is better, you need to decide on the place of its installation and necessary functionality.

Self-installation

So how do you install a wireless doorbell yourself? As stated earlier, setting up a wireless ringer is pretty straightforward. The easiest to install is the model, the receiver of which is powered by batteries or accumulator. It is enough to attach it to screws or dowels, depending on the material of the walls.

For faster installation, you can use double-sided tape. The button is attached in the same way. Before that, batteries must be inserted into the receiver and transmitter. If the receiver is connected to the mains, then you must first de-energize the supplied wires, and then connect the receiver to the mains.

Important! When installing a button in an entrance or on the street, it is not recommended to use double-sided tape, since such a fastener is not reliable and durable. A good option - dowels or screws.

Wireless bell scheme: various manufacturing options

applied Science does not stand still. Thanks to this, our life becomes comfortable and safe. So new devices and gadgets appear in everyday life, old ones are improved. They become compact, versatile and get rid of wires quickly. The situation is similar with doorbells. Now you won't surprise anyone with a call with many melodies, with good quality sound or imitating the voice of a person.

But a wireless radio call is new Product on the market. However, its popularity is only growing every day. This is due, first of all, to the fact that it is easy to install and at the same time you do not have to lay wires and drill walls. This is important when it is installed on a vestibule door or on the gate of a private house.

Wireless doorbell.

So what is the secret of such a unique device. As they say, all ingenious is simple. It is enough to look under its body to be convinced of this.

Ringing schemes of a wireless principle of operation.

Radio calls differ from each other in a set of functions, range or power source. They are similar in one thing - there is a signal receiver and transmitter. The source is the button, and the receiver is a device with a music chip, antenna and speaker. Let's take a closer look at how the wireless doorbell scheme is fundamentally expressed.

An approximate view of the transmitter microcircuits.

As you can see in the diagram, the transmitter consists of a high-frequency generator, an amplifier-converter, three transistors and a power supply. A 12 volt battery is used as a power source. The signal transmission frequency to the receiver is 433 MHz. There is no antenna as such. It is represented by two circuits that are connected in parallel. Thus, a simple microcircuit allows you to transmit a signal for 50 meters or more.

General view of the receiver microcircuits.

The receiver is pretty simple. It is based on one transistor. From the transmitter, the signal goes to the detector. He accepts it and sends it to the amplifier. Then the signal goes to the sound chip. On this chip, a future signal is formed that a person will hear. Also, thanks to him, melodies are changed, the sound volume is selected, and so on. After the signal hits the chip, it goes to the sound amplifier and then to the speaker.

This is the principle behind most of the Chinese-made transmitter and receiver chips.

For comparison, consider the schemes of Chinese wired doorbells. The main difference is the presence of antennas and the way the signal is transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver.

Homemade bell of the wireless principle

Consider one of the homemade microcircuits of a wireless analogue of such a device. Basically, they are similar in principle, but there are some differences. The main difference is the frequency at which the signal is transmitted from the transmitter to the receiving device - 87.9 MHz. The device itself consists of the following main modules:

 • Control schemes,
 • Sound chip,
 • Transmitter,
 • Power supply.

Let's consider each element of the circuit in more detail.

Diagram of a homemade radio doorbell.

The device is controlled by means of the S1 button. It essentially triggers the music chip and the transmitter timer. When it is depressed, voltage is applied to terminals 6 and 13. There is also a microcircuit on the resistor R2 and two diodes VD1 and VD2. It limits the upper voltage value at pins 6 and 13. This is necessary, since the USM and K561 microcircuits differ in logic level. The control device itself is used based on the D1 microcircuit. It acts as a timer that turns on the transmitter for a few seconds after the S1 button is pressed.

Elements D1.1 and D1.2 generate single positive pulses. Their duration is directly related to the time constant in the C1-R4 circuit (taking into account the values indicated in the diagram, we can say that the pulse duration is about twenty seconds). The pulse changes polarity, hitting the inverter D1.3, and then goes to the VT1 key. The power supply is of a transformerless type, and the installed capacitor C5 extinguishes excess voltage.

Important! In this circuit, polar capacitors are of an electrolytic type, C11 and C12 are ceramic, and the rest are any. It is necessary that all capacitors have a voltage of at least 16V, and for C5 - at least 300V. Coils L1 and L2 are wrapped with a thin wire: for the first - 6 turns, for the second - two. Both of them are frameless, and the inner diameter is seven millimeters.

The UMC8-08 microcircuit is used for the sound chip. It reproduces 8 different sounds embedded in it. The choice of melodies is carried out by flipping, using S1. If you send the output pulses from the D2 microcircuit through the transistor switch VT2 to the transformer T1 with the capacitor C10, and then to the speaker, then the sound of the signal will be soft and pleasant to the ear (high and sharp sounds will disappear).

A piece of wire is used as an antenna. A length of no more than a meter will suffice. With such an antenna, the device transmits a signal from transmitter to receiver over a distance of up to one hundred meters.

Now you need to configure your device. The first step is to check the power supply. Next, the correct operation of the sound chip is checked. If everything works, then proceed to setting up the transmitter. VT1 and the emitter are closed for a while by wiring. The receiver itself is installed at the frequency indicated above. With the help of the C11 and C12 settings, we achieve reliable reception at the maximum range. Thanks to the resistor R8, we set the modulation for the best sound of the receiver. Then the jumper is removed and the timer is set on D1. To do this, briefly press the button S1. In this case, the transmitting device turns on and works for a few seconds. If this time interval is too short or, conversely, too long, then it is changed by selecting R4 and C1.

Thus, with minimal knowledge and purchasing everything you need at the nearest radio store, you can make a reliable call with your own hands.

Call from unnecessary devices

If you have old phone or broken computer mouse and repairing them is impractical, they will come in handy if you decide to make your own wireless doorbell. Consider the option of making such a device from a mouse:

 • All insides are removed from the body except for the contact buttons.
 • On the board, two buttons are connected to the ringer, and the remaining parts are removed.
 • The wheel is cut in half and one piece is glued back.
 • On the board of the remote control, soldered to the sound button twisted pair... It connects the button to the mouse keys.
 • We solder the remaining ends to the contacts of the keys - one to the last one, the second to any of the remaining two.
 • The last contact of the three is connected by a wire to the opposite one. Thus, both buttons will work.

The original call is ready.

the main varieties and designs, their pros and cons, as well as what you should pay attention to when choosing

Although many people now install intercoms, the doorbell has not lost its popularity. This is due to the low cost of such a device and its availability. The usual calls were replaced by wireless models. It is so easy to mount a modern wireless bell that anyone can do it. The device has a rather small transmitter and practically does not differ in size from a wired call button. Installation of a motion sensor, video eyelet, backlight and anti-vandal protection on such devices can increase the comfort of their use.

Functions and working principle of the wireless doorbell

A wireless doorbell can improve the comfort level of the residents of the house and its visitors. This device replaced wired models and, in addition to the main task - notification of the arrival of guests - it can be equipped with other functions:

Principle of operation

Although the internal structure of the wireless call differs from the usual one, they have the same principle of operation. From the button, the signal goes to the receiver, which notifies the arrival of the guest with a loud sound or melody. The only difference is that for wired models, the call is transmitted via cable, and for wireless models, via radio.

The wireless ringer device is pretty simple:

Such a device allows you to install the bell and the button in convenient places, since they are powered by a rechargeable battery or batteries and do not require a network connection. Some models of wireless devices may have a combined power supply principle. In this case, the button is powered by batteries, and the main unit is powered by the mains.

Remember that the range of a wireless call in reality may be less than that indicated in its passport, since the signal is partially jammed by concrete or brick walls, metal doors and other structures.

Types of wireless calls and their features

On modern construction market a fairly large assortment of wireless calls is presented. To choose them correctly, you need to familiarize yourself with the existing offer and features different models.

First of all, such calls differ in terms of range. It is necessary to consider where you will install such a device: on the doors of an apartment or on the gate of a private house. Wireless calls can be:

The components of wireless calls can be powered by:

Advantages and disadvantages

Most people prefer wireless doorbell models because of their obvious advantages:

 • lack of wires - they do not need to be hidden and they will not spoil the decoration of the rooms;
 • non-volatility - such devices operate on batteries or accumulators and do not require a network connection;
 • simple installation - even a beginner can do it;
 • different configurations - the possibility of simultaneous operation of several buttons and speakers in the same network increases the comfort of using the call;
 • ease of dismantling - it is very easy to move the speaker or button to a more convenient place;
 • beautiful appearance - modern models differ in both color and shape of the case, so you can choose a bell for any room design.

This is not to say that a wireless call is perfect solution... Like any other device, it also has some disadvantages, which are most often found in cheap models:

 • poor quality mount. Most often this applies to devices mounted with Velcro. After a while, such fastening may loosen, as a result of which the bell falls and is damaged;
 • the need to replace batteries or accumulators. It is necessary to periodically monitor the state of charge and change the batteries, otherwise the call will stop working;
 • leaky performance. Under the influence of moisture, the elements of the unprotected button are damaged and it fails;
 • the possibility of loss of communication. When the power of the batteries is weak or there are obstacles in the signal path, the signal may not reach the receiver.

Most of the described shortcomings are absent in high-quality models of wireless calls.

What to look for when choosing

To choose the right wireless call, you need to decide on the place of its installation, and then analyze the following features:

The difference between street and apartment models

Usually commercially available wireless doorbells for indoor or outdoor installation. Obviously, street models can be installed in an apartment, but they will cost more due to their greater functionality.

Installing a wireless doorbell

Most wireless doorbells have both button and speaker running on batteries. In this case, the installation of the device is quick and easy. First you need to purchase the necessary tools and components:

Installation must be carried out in the following order:

If the main unit of the wireless call is powered by the network, then to connect it you need to have skills in working with electricity.

Repair of a wireless call

Although high quality wireless calls are quite reliable devices, there are times when they fail.

The main causes of breakdowns:

Another common cause is the frequency of the transmitter and receiver. In this case, it is necessary to adjust it:

The owners of cheap Chinese devices often complain about the spontaneous ringing. This is due to the fact that their call frequency coincides with the call frequency of their neighbors. You can solve this problem like this:

 • partially shield the receiver with foil. This will help reduce its sensitivity, and it will not respond to the neighbors button;
 • improve the waterproofing of the button so that moisture does not get into it, causing a short circuit and damage to parts;
 • buy a new call with a different working frequency.

Video: how to increase the range of a wireless call

Let the doorbell not be the hallmark of the house, like the front door. But he leaves some idea of its owners. Usually, doorbells are selected by the melody that turns on when the button is pressed. More sophisticated buyers pay attention to specifications such a device. A wireless doorbell is a great way to show your guests your status and taste.

How does a wireless call work

The principle of a wired call is very simple. From the button installed in the outer part of the door, a wire is laid, connected to the speaker, which is located inside the apartment. Electricity is connected to the speaker. When you press the bell button, the circuit is closed and the speaker is turned on, playing the melody.

Wireless calls use the same principle as their wired counterparts. But to turn on their speaker, you do not need to close the electrical circuit with the bell button. The signal from such a button is transmitted to the call receiver using radio waves. The sensor reads them and activates the speaker - a melody sounds.

Due to the absence of wires in the configuration of the device, the installation of wireless calls is greatly facilitated. No need to drill holes and run a wire from the button to the ringer speaker.

Wireless calls can be of two types:

 • the first type of ringer speakers are connected to the electrical network, and the button is battery operated;
 • in some models, not only the button, but also the speaker works from the battery. Installation of such wireless calls consists only in installing a button on the outside of the door and installing a speaker inside the apartment. However, it does not need to be connected to electricity.

Attention! When setting up a wireless call, consider the maximum possible distance between the button and the speaker. Depending on the materials from which the walls are made, this distance may vary.

Some wireless calls come with multiple speakers at once. They can be installed in different parts of the house: in the kitchen, in the garage, in the workshop, etc. - where there is a possibility of not hearing the speaker at the front door.

Setting up a wireless call

 • Package inspection.

After purchasing such a device, you need to inspect its packaging. In addition to the main components, modern doorbells can have intercom modules, video peephole, motion sensor, etc. Check that all parts are in place.

 • Choosing a place for installation.

We unpack all the components of the call and select the place where its modules will be mounted. If the "internal" parts of the call are powered by the mains, you need to think about how to provide electricity to them.

You also need to select a location for the external button. Typically, manufacturers of wireless calls provide buttons with a double-sided adhesive tape (Velcro). I must say right away that this option is not very practical. It is best to secure the bell button with self-tapping screws.

This can be done next to the doorway. If this is not possible, then a door leaf can be used for this purpose.

 • Installing the wireless call button.

After you have decided on the location, you can proceed to installing the button. If it will be mounted near the doorway on the wall, then using a puncher you need to make holes for the dowels. To do this, you need to select the appropriate drill diameter and drill to the desired depth. We install the button using self-tapping screws.

Attention! The button of the old wired call, if you have one, must be carefully removed. To do this, you need to de-energize the wires that fit to it, disconnect them from the button and completely remove them from the wall. Technological holes that remain from such wiring must be sealed with putty.

 • Installation of indoor units of a wireless call.

The internal parts of the wireless bell do not need to be hung on the wall. Some modules can simply be placed on the nightstand next to the door or where they will be used. If you decide to attach them to the wall, then again you need a puncher.

Attention! If the internal parts of the wireless bell are powered by an electrical network, they must be connected to it. To do this, you need to use the instructions. This procedure is no more complicated than connecting a regular outlet.

 • Functionality check.

We insert the battery into the button and check the system performance. If, when you press the button, a melody starts to sound, then everything is set correctly. You can use it.
