Such a transducer can be purchased ready, but those that were presented in local stores did not inspire confidence at all: not a ventilated plastic case, thin wires, cocking plastic ... what is there to say - I have such a job, it's a sharp teapot and starts to stink.

I decided to try to shock a similar thing myself. I will not chat - I did not expect, and did not borrow a fee and took advantage of the ready:

In the open form, as you understand, it is impossible to use it in the car, therefore it would be nice to find a skirt for the board. For example :

The converter previously needed to finish: to draw the electrolytic condensers with ceramics to filter the HF noise, and to correct the feedback of the PWM controller as advises.

Taking a fee and the body it becomes obvious that the charge with radiators will not fit into the box, and without - too. To shove the nepheless, it was decided to drop radiators, power elements (diode assembly and mosphores) and trim on the sharpening fee to the desired size.

After cutting down one end, the track had to restore the wire, and taking the case of the LED and the Terminals were dropped - they are not needed there. The legs of the power elements had to be bent so that the heat pavement part was on the same level with a new edge of the board for good contact with the new "radiator".

The diode assembly and mosphores were planted on a thermal wagon through the thermostable directly on the aluminum housing, the servant serving with a radiator and securely fastened with a screw.

GX16-4 was chosen as the connector - this is a "aviation" 4x pin connector withstanding currents up to 15 amps by passport. By two pins, I entered the incoming tension, and according to the remaining two - the extinguished elevated. A plus of such a connector is its relative tightness and reliable plug fixation.

Anticipating the heavy conditions of operation, I took care of the cables: the input was a heat-resistant stranded 2 * 1mm2 in a double silicone shell (Basoglu SIMH). Honestly, I did not even expect such a quality - the cable is very soft, pleasant to the touch, inside the outer shell of the wire in the talca, soldering perfectly. As a weekend used the usual laptop coaxial. It is usually very wear-resistant cables with a good cross section. I have long been using such for crafts, where permanent loads will be accounted for. The laptop plug attacked from what was (temporarily).

Both cables with small tricks embroidered into the connector, and on a thin cable, the spring was put on a spring - such a design very much extends the life of cables near the connectors, because Much increases the bend radius and prevents chances. It will not be superfluous and the ferrite ring on the output line for damping interference.

It is more convenient, of course, it would be used to use two sockets in the housing - on the entrance and to exit from different sides. It is more convenient in installation, and the "passing" design is more convenient in operation. But each pair of dad-mom is locally worth 200r, saved.

If you wish and small efforts, the design can be made completely sealed, because the body and the connector already has a hoping for it.

I was able to load the converter with my laptop only to 3.6A @ 11.8V at the entrance, while in 20 minutes of operation at such a current, the housing warmed a little stronger than the ambient temperature. Pyrometer shows 32.3 ° C. Measure the temperature of the aluminum box with a pyrometer is not entirely correct, but even after the area is painted, the black marker did not change.

This is what the whole design looks like in the car, no battery laptop to confirm the work. Half the laptop hours at idle did not affect the temperature of the converter, especially since the 13.8V on-board network it will work easier than from 11.8V at home.

The budget came out about 1000 rubles. Considering that half of the details were taken in China. If you take everything locally - you can quickly multiply the prices for two.

Now about impressions.
At the March weekend, there were already two competitions: "Spring breakthrough" navigator on battle Uaz and dedicated to March 8 "Queen Auto", already by the pilot, on his car.

Already in the first competition, I appreciated everything convenience of charging - nothing else hangs and does not hang out. I turned on the charging in the cigarette lighter and stuck everything under the seat, and from there to the laptop there was one single power cable. BP, by the way, is almost not heated. There was a moment when I did not notice how the power plug was falling out of a laptop, and he worked for about an hour from the battery, after which the power supply had to pull the battery and the work of the laptop. And everything was exacerbated by the fact that in the UAZ, the stove complied to his feet was worked on a complete - accurately under the seat, and at that moment the body of the power supply was on the sensations of degrees 45-50, that is, a little hotter than warm.

Once again, I made sure that I did it right that I bought a thick cable - it often turned out that with a steep slope, the hood down the BP flew to the feet, and I trampled for some time. Obviously, the thin cable in such conditions will die much faster.

The only thing that, perhaps, is worth changing in the BP bundle - a laptop is a single laptop nutrition. You need to put something like GX16-2 there, such as on the power supply. This will prevent accidental plug drops and the likelihood of a breakfast of the nest from the motherboard in a laptop when jerking per cable.
