Wireless speakers bose soundlink mini. Review of Bose SoundLink Mini II acoustics. Second coming. Set Portable acoustics Bose Soundlink Mini II

Second version of the reference portable speaker Bose SoundLink Mini – we added a speakerphone, worked on the sound, you can connect to two devices simultaneously, the speaker lasts longer...

Design, construction

I have a first generation speaker on hand, so I can clearly show the differences. Firstly, the block of buttons has been redesigned, the buttons for selecting the signal source have disappeared, now this happens automatically, a multifunctional button has appeared, at the beginning of use it is proposed to select a language, Russian is already supported. Selecting a language is necessary for voice prompts, for example, the speaker will tell you how to pair. When you reconnect, the name of the device is announced, in my case it is the Zavackiy smartphone. The volume buttons are also responsible for rewinding; you need to press and hold plus or minus. Secondly, the speaker is now available in two colors: light gray and black, as in the review. Thirdly, the block with microUSB and 3.5 mm connectors has been changed. As in the first generation column, it has the ability to charge via a docking station, but only for this the regular microUSB input is used. The power supply is also different, a little larger. But the packaging, on the contrary, has decreased, and it is easier to get accessories from there. Finally, the logo on the grill has become a little smaller, the microUSB connector has moved from the bottom to the top, and microphones are built somewhere in the body.

The creators of the Mini probably didn't know what kind of monster they were releasing into the world. This device along with JBL Charge can be considered a benchmark in the world of portable audio, one represents budget segment, but SoundLink Mini can be attributed to the middle segment, that part of it that is near the tip of the iceberg. Users liked literally everything about the Mini: the heavy metal body (670 grams, no joke, it is necessary to combat vibration), the included docking station, compact size, excellent sound quality. Like “adult” speakers, the level is lower and the size is twice as large. The Mini makes a special impression on people unfamiliar with the world of audio, those who judge speakers in terms of “loud and quiet.” Loud, very loud. And also excellent detail for such a device. In general, it turned out to be a hit, and even the crisis did not have too much of an impact on SoundLink Mini sales. The second series was supposed to appear, and now, two years have passed, a new column is on the table.

It's good that the changes did not affect important things. I talked about the design, let's move on. Yes, before I forget, “bumpers” of different colors are already available for the speaker. If you are worried about aluminum, I advise you to buy it.

If you wish, you can read a review of the first generation system here.

Yes, I almost forgot to tell you about the box and one interesting function. There is an insert in the box and the instructions are printed right on it. Imagine how convenient it is! Bose doesn’t transfer paper or print piles of paper that no one needs; all the most important things are right on the box. Well done, great idea. Well, an interesting feature is that the speaker can be used simultaneously with two devices, leaving eight gadgets in memory. What is it for? Well, if you make it up, at a party you can take turns connecting your smartphones and listening to music.

The speakerphone is also an important addition. If the smartphone is far away, you can answer the call from the speaker and immediately talk to the person. The quality of speech transmission is at a good level, it is advisable to speak close to the speaker (almost into the speaker and not move too far away).

Working hours

The stated operating time is about 10 hours, the first version had about 7 hours. You can charge the speaker using either a microUSB cable or a docking station; it’s very good that it wasn’t removed. The operating time is not bad for a speaker of this level.

Sound quality

The midrange and high frequencies have been tightened up, the speaker can change your ideas about portable acoustics. The low frequencies were fine anyway, so don't worry about that. In terms of sound, this is the standard among similar systems; I personally can only get by with the Mini II - it’s easy to move to another room. If I were a young bachelor, I would listen to something like this. And it won’t cause any problems when moving, so I threw it in my bag and went.

Now in the review of such systems we need to talk more often about the fact that such things are excellent for use with Apple Music– and most people believe that Apple Music is where streaming services began. Thanks to the interest in Apple from the media. Well, since this is a streaming service, it means that you can look at systems for working with streaming services, and at wireless speakers– all this spurs the market. In general, what I wanted to say. Dear customers, this speaker works great with Apple Music, you can buy it.

conclusions

In retail, the second version costs about 12,990 rubles, in some places it is more expensive, but it is not clear why it is more expensive. Consider that everywhere is 12,990 rubles, and that’s it. Let me remind you of what has changed - now only a regular microUSB connector, a speakerphone has been added, it works longer, two colors, the sound has become better. What else can I add here? Apparently there will be another column with water protection; Bose ignores the ability to charge other gadgets – and probably rightly so. Focus on sound, focus on compact size, design (the metal alone is worth it), and this is very correct. Apparently, in the next couple of years this speaker will remain the standard in its class.

An extremely interesting speaker for those who need a compact wireless device, the Bose SoundLink III is capable of 14 hours of battery life. offline mode, and these are not all of its distinctive features.

Design, construction

Bose is now very actively developing the New media direction; let me remind you, these are all speaker systems that can work with smartphones, tablets, players, and laptops. The concept is used in the most different companies and in relation to the most different devices, from a small speaker to an expensive stationary multimedia combine with a Lightning cradle. Bose has this moment There are ultra-portable acoustic systems (SoundLink Mini), portable (Bose SoundLink III) acoustics and classic systems, you can call them compact (SoundDock, both with a cradle, and wireless). I really like all these devices; the company creates unique things - this applies both to some functions, characteristics, and price-quality ratio. It's hard to find a competitor, that's the point. That is why the already mentioned Bose SoundLink Mini will be a real hit for a long time, regardless of what the competitors do. Everything is clear with it, a small device with excellent sound quality, excellent operating time, the design and materials are also wonderful. But the Bose SoundLink II, although it was good, raised certain questions; it weighed more than a kilogram, and you couldn’t take it with you on a trip. The dimensions are considerable, the sound quality is excellent for such a system, but what use case can you imagine?

I'm used to watching people, asking about what they do with their equipment. A friend has a Bose SoundLink II, according to him, this is the main acoustic system at home, lives alone in the studio, he doesn’t need anything else. To my question why I bought such a speaker (I mean, I could have bought something big), there was a simple answer - it takes up little space, but is loud. And you can take it with you, easily move it to the bathroom, take it out of town, to friends, anywhere.

In my opinion, quite reasonable. If you have a large apartment, house, you love good sound and you have money for your hobby, then you can improve everything related to audio ad infinitum. If you sometimes listen to music, music Center has been in the trash for a long time, I need something compact and with good quality sound, then this is where the Bose SoundLink III comes into the picture. Let's see why this particular gadget.

Let me start by saying that the Bose SoundLink III no longer has a leather cover. Only metal and plastic. Moreover, there is a lot of metal, perforated overlays on the front and back, the usual Bose gray color, dark gray plastic parts, and white edging. The dimensions of the device are 13.15 x 25.6 x 4.8 cm, weight – 1.37 kg. How MacBook Air. On the top there is an insert made of a material resembling rubber, there are control buttons, the design of this element resembles a branded remote control. On the front there is the company logo, on the back there are 3.5 mm connectors, a service microUSB (no need to insert anything there), a connector for connecting the power supply. The power supply is massive, the plugs are replaceable. I still don’t understand what kind of connector (or what is it?) on the bottom.

If you are haunted by the thought that the previous generation speaker had a leather cover, but there is nothing here, then accessories will come to the rescue. Perhaps, it is Bose that now sells the most add-ons for its speakers compared to other companies - before there were bags, chargers for the car, but since the release of SoundLink Mini, consumers can buy cases, and different types. And for Bose SoundLink III they are also available, I don’t know if it’s leather or not, but they look great, each costs about $35.

There are also other accessories Charger for a car, keep this in mind if you plan to take the speaker outdoors.

There are indicators on the case that will tell you the battery charge; to pair, you need to press and hold the Bluetooth button on the top until the indicator turns blue. There’s a power button right there. By the way, the speaker is ready for use faster than the previous generation model, I didn’t take any measurements, subjective impressions. There are buttons for changing the volume or muting the sound (Mute), everything is typical.

Just in case, let me remind you that you can connect any devices to the speaker via Bluetooth or using an audio cable.

Nutrition

The stated operating time is (attention!) 14 hours. Yes, yes, this large speaker can delight you with music most of the day. It takes about two and a half hours to fully charge, and then you can take it with you on a picnic again. I would like to remind you that in this class a rare device is capable of working for ten hours, but here it is fourteen, an excellent result.

The instructions say that the battery can be replaced in service center, it is too good news, the speaker will serve you for many years, and when the indicator shows nothing, just replace the battery. By the way, this also applies to many other Bose accessories; old QC-3s can be quickly put in order if you replace the cable and ear pads, don’t forget about it.

Sound

You will laugh, but the speaker needs to be warmed up; after a week of use, the sound changes significantly for the better, especially for low frequencies. Don't be surprised if the sample in the store sounds better than the Bose SoundLink III you just bought, this is quite normal - turn it on more often at first and you will notice the changes yourself.

There are four speakers and two passive radiators inside; you will feel the work of the latter especially well. As far as I understand, compared to the Bose SoundLink II, the sound has changed, the highs and low frequencies, but the middle falls out of focus. Which makes the device ideal for electronic music and not very suitable for classical music lovers (this is just one example). During testing, I mainly listened to this kind of music; the speaker is ideal for such tasks.

The volume reserve is large; for those who live in a studio (up to one hundred meters), this is an excellent option. You can create the desired musical atmosphere in any corner, or sound the entire apartment; there is enough power. Enough is enough, I had the opportunity to check.

I used the speaker with an iPhone 5S, iPad Air, the result in both cases is good, there were no problems with the connection. The most interesting thing is that there are no problems with sound typical for Bluetooth connections.

conclusions

In retail, the device costs about 16,000 rubles; let me remind you that the Bose SoundDock Series III stationary speaker with a Lightning cradle costs about 11,500 rubles. But the beauty of the Bose SoundLink III is that this brick can be easily moved to any place in the apartment and taken with you. Naturally, in terms of sound quality, the “sounddoc” seems to me to be a more universal solution, but for many, the deciding factor will be mobility and size. For electronic music, the Bose SoundLink III is a godsend. And, of course, the operating time is amazing: 14 hours. The advantages also include the design, materials, turn-on speed, and the ability to connect any equipment via Bluetooth or using an audio cable.

Rich rich sound

High sound quality is an undeniable advantage of the Bose SoundLink Mini II. This small speaker system, which fits in the palm of your hand, is the best proof of the phrase “looks can be deceiving”: you simply don’t expect such deep low frequencies and rich sound from it.

Compared to the previous model, SoundLink Mini II sounds brighter and richer. The manufacturer has seriously worked on the sound: high frequencies are enhanced, vocals have become more noticeable and powerful, and the difference is impossible not to notice.

Add to all this amazing detail and volume, and it becomes clear why experts unanimously call the Bose SoundLink Mini II the best portable speakers on the market.

Bose took a chance and changed the sound. I touched the saint.

Last year I called the column best in class. This is not just my opinion: no matter where you look, observers and experts, and ordinary owners are going crazy over sound quality aluminum baby.

Today, the old Mini has several worthy rivals. I still don’t think that any of them plays better, but there are already similar ones. Bose looked at the market and took a deep breath. updated SoundLink Mini before second versions.

What's new, what's old and what's changed

In two years, Mini has not lost its advantages. A few little things were missing to achieve the title of an objectively ideal small-sized Bluetooth speaker. Now there is nowhere to point your finger - everything you need is there and even a little more.

Style you can choose

Bose SoundLink Mini 2 does not change form. The strict, industrial style with an abundance of metal has not gone away. Only one little thing has changed: instead of one color scheme, two are now available.

Silver model strongly reminiscent of the first generation Mini, but uses a slightly different shade of plastic body elements and speaker grilles. As a result, the model became almost monochromatic. Those who still haven't seen old version, they are unlikely to notice the difference. This change is more likely for new buyers, a kind of enticement.

Black model- unexpected guest. Previously, it was not in the line, and if you saw black Mini on the Internet or on the counter, it's always . The body is painted in a curious color: I can’t call it truly black; The “stealth” shade comes to mind, which can be explained by the banal properties of the aluminum body. The official name of the color is "carbon".

The buttons and speaker grille are also painted, and the only bright detail against their background is the light rubber insulation along the edges of the front panel. The combination is no less stylish, even more austere - it will appeal to owners of dark furniture.

Having compared both speakers live, I came to the conclusion: I like the silver one a little more. There is something warm and familiar about her: maybe the poppy plant lover of the noble shade of aluminum is playing in her soul again. But in the end, for comparison and testing, I took the black version - it demonstrates the difference with the previous generation much better. And, to be honest, it looks more organic on my dark shelves.

Features that were missing

I never denied it: functionality was the weakest point of the first generation Bose SoundLink Mini. Two factors had an impact: the start date of production and the transition period at Bose itself, where they were just beginning to see the future of the acoustics market, but were still betting on classic products like PC speakers. Mini was a milestone, ahead of everyone else in terms of sound. The rest could be nitpicked.

Bose SoundLink Mini 2 is now available maybe much more. No, not like that: now the column everything is possible, what the average owner will require of her.

1. Keys for switching tracks. My old dream came true. In every second review I wrote: portable acoustics must have not only a volume control, but also buttons for switching songs. The prayers were heard first in, and then in Mini 2.

I think you noticed that a new button has appeared on the case. Responsible for switching tracks multifunction key, replacing Mute and Aux on the old model. By default, it simply pauses tracks and resumes them. To switch a song, you need to hold down the button and also click on the “plus” or “minus” - for the next or previous track.

A bit of a compromise solution, but during testing I never noticed any discomfort. The buttons are easy to press, you can even feel them blindly. iOS 8/9 and Apple Music work without problems, everything here is predictable in a good way.

A small detail: now the volume control on the speaker matches the volume of the connected device, and is not adjusted independently (as on the first Mini). In my opinion, it makes more sense.

2. Built-in microphone for hands-free calling. It was not enough when using the speaker on trips and outdoors. When there is an incoming call, iOS gives priority to the new microphone in SoundLink Mini 2, and you can talk to the other person directly through the speakers. You look funny chatting with the column, and the experience itself is strange, but it is what it is :)

I tested the microphone itself, calling to friends and to myself. The voice quality is satisfactory, you can walk indoors and you will be heard normally. In the open air, it is better to keep the speaker nearby or speak louder. By the way, if you hold down the multifunction key, Siri will work! And then you can give her a task through the microphone - for example, tell her the weather or play a specific song.

3. Simultaneous connection of 2 devices. Great help for families or owners of two mobile gadgets. Previously, to switch the sound source, you had to go to the speaker, press the Bluetooth button to start searching for a new device, and hope that the Mini would pick it up. It's easier now.

After pairing two devices at once, the speaker plays sound from the first active source. As soon as it goes silent for at least a couple of seconds, the acoustics will switch to the second stream (and second source) if something is playing there. To the system you get used to it instantly: Essentially, you just press pause to switch sources.

Bose SoundLink Mini II stores up to 8 devices. You can reset it if you exceed it.

4. Voice assistant. We haven't had enough robot voices in our lives :) Bose SoundLink Mini 2 has acquired the same assistant as in the Color headphones and speaker. A synthesized voice pronounces absolutely everything that happens: the battery level when turned on, the start of pairing, the connection of new devices and their name. Even announces incoming call, including the caller's name in the phone book.

Yes, and before you ask, there is Russian language support right out of the box. If desired, you can return to English. Or disable the feature altogether.

BATTERY CHARGE LEVEL: ONE HUNDRED PERCENT. CONNECTION WITH IPHONE TWO IS ESTABLISHED.

I’ll be honest: if I was happy about it in On-Ear, I turned it off in the column after two days. Well, a very talkative assistant. And when someone calls, especially with a long name in the address book... At the same time, thanks to the assistant, you can confidently answer calls without an iPhone at hand, already knowing who is trying to call.

Having a feature is always better than not having it. Anyone who doesn't like it will be turned off and that's it.

5. Supports charging via micro-USB. We've waited! Down with chargers and proprietary standards. On the side of the new Mini there is a USB port through which it can charge from any source, either portable accumulator, “plug” from the iPhone or laptop kit.

Now you don’t need to take a charger when traveling, and generally depend on sockets. I connected it to the laptop and there it was. The set includes a thick (well, really, I haven’t seen anything like it in a hundred years) branded micro USB cable with manufacturer's markings, but, of course, any analogue will do.

A USB plug was also included. It charges about a third faster than when connected to a laptop. But I’ve never had a situation where the speaker wasn’t charged 100 percent overnight. There is still a docking station complete with a charging dock: I put a speaker on it and that’s it. The new dock is not compatible with the old Mini and vice versa. It is for information only.

6. Autonomous operation a third longer. Previously it was 7 o'clock, which was enough for many. But you won’t be able to take me into some forest for the whole day if you only listen intermittently. The Bose SoundLink Mini 2 lasts for 10 hours on a single charge, and we're talking about continuous music playback or conversations.

I noticed that I feel more comfortable taking the speaker with me, most often even without a cable. I’ve never discharged the first “mini” to zero, but it’s just nice to know that new model It will definitely withstand several days of work “in the field”.

A sound you didn't expect

Am I the only one like this? Every time something good is updated, I feel distrust of the manufacturer and compare them at the first opportunity. Businessmen love to cut costs and simplify, spoil products under the pretext of releasing updated versions - as the owner of several generations of Sony consoles, I have personally encountered this.

So when the new SoundLink Mini was announced, I began to suspect something's wrong. God forbid they touch it and ruin the sound. This is a failure that will make the column simply “one of many.” I tore the film off the box of the new model, as if it had been rude to me and insulted my entire family. It was interesting.

What's up with the sound in Mini 2?

The first thing I did was to compare the new version with previous generation Mini. One volume level, set simultaneously both there and there from scratch. The same sound source - iPhone 6. The same tracks, which I have already listened to thoroughly and know all the details. And the speakers themselves stand in the same place - on a shelf opposite the wall. Ideal conditions.

Bose SoundLink Mini it was hard not to like, but some people didn't like it because of the powerful (in their opinion) bass. In fact, it wasn’t the bass that was straining, but the slightly blurry, suppressed high frequencies compared to others portable speakers(especially inexpensive ones, where everything crunches and rustles, bless you). These same people liked the model much more: in it the sound seemed a little more balanced due to improved speakers and a weakened low-frequency radiator.

So, SoundLink Mini 2 is the son of SoundLink Mini and SoundLink Color. From the first she inherited the legendary design, stylish design, powerful bass and juicy mids. From the second - advanced functionality. And yes, a bit of balanced sound was lost.

Compared to old model, Mini 2 sounds brighter and richer: there is an increase high frequencies. The difference in direct comparison is instantly noticeable - this was confirmed by four different people who I blindly tested. The vocals have become richer and significantly more noticeable, especially in powerful, multifaceted compositions.

At the same time, the middle and, in particular, low frequencies remained at the same level. I compared them separately through a special website and did not notice a difference at all. Due to more detailed reproduction of highs, the stereo effect of the speaker has also improved: before it was rather nominal, but now it has become more noticeable. It’s worth making a reservation here that in terms of stereo, the Mini is still better. But the “juice” of low and mid frequencies that Mini is famous for will not be present in the large model.

As a result, everyone I gave to listen to SoundLink Mini 2 confirmed my opinion: the new model is not only sounds different, but it also makes it a little better. Juicier, brighter, but with the same deep bass that you don’t believe in when you see the speaker in person. I admit that some people won’t like it and will want a “dark” sound. But personally, I listened to several hundred tracks on both and made a choice. I'll leave a new one.

New or old Mini. What to take

You know, I wrote six paragraphs of thoughts here, and then went to look at the current prices.

Portable speaker Bose SoundLink Mini 2 costs 12990 rubles from official Bose partners in Russia. Do you know how much the first model costs? Right - 12990 rubles. The official price in the USA is $200. It is more profitable to buy from us, and now is the time for this.

So what is there to choose then? If the first model had cost 3-5 thousand cheaper, I would have given it another thought. But Bose has long updated prices on the Russian market at a rate of 60+ rubles per dollar. A new version"Minica" has not become more expensive. She's just came out

Despite the popularity of the second version of the bestseller among portable acoustics, we have not yet encountered a fake of this Bluetooth acoustics. Until recently.

And sadly, the fake was purchased in a store where it had recently been purchased with approximately the same sad story. Shop http://bose-b****que.ru with phone number 8 925 915**26.

We were able to study the fake and compare it with the original.

There are no obvious differences on the reverse side. In general, it is worth noting that the quality of this fake is much better, especially compared to the previous fake that we held in our hands - Bose SoundLink Color. If you don’t know all the nuances, you can get confused.

The components of the fake and the original are similar. Even the fake USB cable comes with the Bose brand logo. But! The main difference is the charger: the fake has a charger with a folding plug for American sockets without the ability to install an adapter (pictured on the left), while the original has a base with connectors for installing adapters, incl. for Russian sockets, the corresponding adapter is included.

Upon closer inspection, the fake logo is painted on, which sticks out slightly above the grill and glares strongly in the light. Also, the fake speakers are located quite close to the grill and are much more visible through it.

The main obvious difference! On the original, the rubber seal is flush with the edge of the case, while on the fake (on the left) it protrudes noticeably along the entire perimeter of the case.

Under the rubber base, the fake does not have any markings on the battery (bottom), while the original has everything in place. Important! The serial number on the original battery should not match the serial number of the speaker, this is exactly serial number battery
