Fitness tracker huawei band 3. Almost hours. Review of the fitness tracker Huawei Honor Band. Connection instructions

Huawei Band 2 Pro is a high-quality professional-grade fitness bracelet. The device received advanced functionality, as well as a practical design. The gadget was introduced in September 2017.

Appearance and ergonomics

The main body of the Huawei Band 2 Pro is made of lightweight and high-quality plastic. To create a more attractive appearance, two metal strips are used on the sides. The flexible strap is made of soft silicone material that does not cause allergic reactions. Thanks to the simple fastening and the long strap, this bracelet is suitable for children and adults. This lightweight apparatus is water resistant, surviving dives up to 50 meters deep. Therefore, it can be used without problems even in heavy rain. The model looks stylish and practical. Available colors: black, orange and blue.

Display

The Band 2 Pro fitness bracelet is equipped with a 0.91-inch monochrome screen with a resolution of 128 by 32 pixels. It uses a PMOLED matrix, which is able to display various animations related to breathing exercises, as well as the current time and other parameters. At the bottom of the display is a flat touch button that responds to hold and touch. Information on the screen is clearly visible even in bright sunlight. You can navigate through the menu by moving the brush. The display is activated with a wave of the hand.

Functional

Band 2 Pro has a built-in GPS receiver, which determines with high accuracy not only the speed of movement, but also the specific distance, as well as the desired direction. There is an advanced heart rate sensor that provides continuous monitoring. Thanks to the professional VO2Max running algorithm, the gadget can be easily adjusted to the specific needs of the user to control physical activity. What's more, the dedicated FirstBeat feature not only evaluates your running style, it also creates the perfect training plan.

It is worth noting the breath monitoring sensor. It allows the user to breathe as correctly as possible with the help of visual animation prompts. There are swim, bike, step and run modes. The device also supports various notifications. The fitness tracker works together with devices that have iOS 8 and Android 4.4 operating systems or later.

Connection

Huawei Band 2 Pro got Bluetooth 4.2. This gadget receives notifications of incoming messages and calls. Synchronization with a smartphone is instantaneous.

autonomy

Inside the Huawei Band 2 Pro is a 105 mAh battery. Such a battery is charged for about 1.5 hours. The manufacturer promises that the device can work up to 30 days. With a sufficiently intense load, the device can withstand about 2 weeks without any problems. If you use it in a relatively economical mode, then autonomy increases to 3-4 weeks. Charging takes place thanks to a compact docking station.

conclusions

Band 2 Pro seems to be a good option for people who want to play sports and workout at a high level. This is quite a worthy solution for professionals who are constantly faced with a variety of physical activities. Complete set: fitness bracelet, documentation, USB cable and docking station.

In terms of functionality and ergonomics, they are very similar, but Huawei Honor Band 3 there is an advantage - a smart alarm clock, which was brutally amputated from Xiaomi, even though this option was one of its significant advantages. Huawei Honor Band 3

The style is laconic, sporty, without frills. The dimensions of the device are small. The capsule is built into the strap. Screen made of durable Gorilla Glass.

note that the screen surface is not all touch, but only a small area at the bottom - a button.

On the reverse side is a heart rate sensor and contacts for connecting charging.

Button closure, secure, fastens relatively easily. The strap is softer than Xiaomi, but quite pleasant to the skin, decorative "ribs" on the outside.

How to connect the bracelet to the phone?

The connection process is standard, as for all smart fitness devices:

  1. download app on phone Huawei Wear;
  2. "bind" the watch to the phone through Bluetooth;
  3. customize for yourself;
  4. additionally download the application "Health" from Huawei. That's all.

The functionality of the bracelet, or why is it needed at all?

The main task of any fitness device is providing information about your activity. So what can we find out?

✅ Time, date, day of the week, battery level and number of steps taken per day.

✅ Separate timers for walking, swimming and running.

✅ Reminders and alarm clocks, including a smart alarm clock.

✅ Notifications about incoming calls, SMS, messages from social networks and other services. You can reject incoming messages by holding the key for a long time.

✅ Heart rate. By the way, the heart rate monitor is quite accurate.

It is possible to constantly monitor cardiac activity. According to the schedule in the application, you can assess your condition. True, with this option, the bracelet battery lasts exactly a week before the next charge.

Why Huawei Honor Band 3 and not any other smart device?

To be honest, I have never worn a watch. And with the advent of smart watches in my everyday life, I could not get used to the feeling on my hand. They take up too much space, they fit the hand too tightly, and the strap is not rigid enough for free wearing, as a result it dangles. In addition, after a workout, under the strap is wet and sticky, you need to wash yourself, for this you need to remove the watch, and why do I need a waterproof device if I need to remove it every time I go to the shower? While the bracelet sits fairly loosely on the wrist, water easily seeps into the skin. And the tail of the strap is tightly pressed by the ring, it does not stick out, does not fall out, does not interfere. Therefore, I have a bracelet again, and the watch has safely migrated to my husband for permanent residence.

Again, buy a similar functional Xiaomi I didn't want to for a very simple reason. Everyone I know is already wearing it. I wanted something new, but with the same advantages. It turned out that there are not many devices on the market with the options I needed.

Benefits of Huawei Honor Band 3

  • Capacious battery up to 30 days
  • Waterproof, submersible up to 50 m
  • Comfortable strap with ring
  • Relatively compact body
  • Protected screen, larger than khaomi
  • The presence of a smart alarm clock

Update as of August 31, 2018

The advantages include the software of the bracelet. The application is simple, but functional, and, which is very nice, is constantly updated. The latest update allowed you to customize the desired functions at will: monitoring, running, heart rate, swimming, treadmill. For example, I don’t do swimming, so this option can be disabled through the application and it will disappear in the bracelet menu.

In addition, I really like that the connection with the phone, in case it fell off, is restored by itself. There is no such thing in a smart watch, it fell off - connect it manually.

Flaws Huawei Honor Band 3

Conditional and relative, but still they exist, perhaps they may seem significant to you.

💡 For example, the built-in capsule does not separate from the strap. This means that changing the straps, like gloves, will not work, and to charge the capsule, the entire device will have to be removed from the hand. However, I can say from experience that colored straps quickly shuffle and lose their attractive appearance, they have to be looked after more often than plain black ones.

💡 Strap again. Decorative ribs on it seem superfluous to me. Foam from soap-foam products, hand cream and other things like to clog in them. Smooth strap like Xiaomi, would be more practical, IMHO.

💡 The original strap degrades over time, after six months or a year it will go to waste, so when ordering a bracelet, you will have to immediately buy replacement straps. Read more about this below.

💡 The screen loves grease and periodically gets dirty, in fact, like a phone. Fortunately, the screen is small and quickly wiping it is not tricky, at least about jeans.

💡 Swimming workout can be started quickly by tapping the screen twice with your knuckles. And this is great, but, frankly, a quick start does not always work out for some reason. Perhaps this skill can be developed. Again, this is not critical for me at all, since I do not swim.

💡 The touch button reacts to water, for example, the menu turns on to droplets in the shower and scrolls through the “running”, “swimming”, “pulse” items, sometimes starts a workout.

Update as of August 31, 2018

The battery lasts for 2 weeks. I can't understand why. I disabled the daily heart rate monitoring function, but judging by the fact that the green indicators turn on periodically, apparently, the option is not disabled. In general, 2 weeks, as it turned out, is also quite enough for me, because at least once every 14 days the strap must be removed from the hand and the internal parts under the ring rinsed, where water usually does not get well, but foam and soap clog well.

Huawei Honor Band 3 not the first smart device in my collection, so...

The output will be...

If you seriously and for a long time go in for sports, lead an active lifestyle, go hiking, visit the gym, then a smart watch is your best friend. If you lead a moderately active or even lazy lifestyle, but still want to know how often and for what reason your heart beats, whether you move enough during the day and whether you sleep well at night, then choose a bracelet. It is cheaper and more practical.

The design of the mount is very strange. I don’t know what engineering genius came up with this, but there is some big miscalculation in all this. In short, it looks like this: the strap is attached to the capsule through a plastic adapter, which is installed inside the strap and pressed all this with a screw. Everything would be fine, but the material of the strap degraded over time, stretched out and the plastic part is no longer firmly installed in it, which means that the strap needs to be changed, and possibly regularly.

Despite the fact that the market for smart bracelets (and indeed wearable electronics) is going through hard times, Huawei does not stop developing new devices. The next device of the Chinese company - Honor Band 3 - continues the Honor Band line (the Honor Band A1 was previously presented in it). Unlike the TalkBand line, these are "classic" fitness bracelets, without the Bluetooth headset function and with a low price. However, in terms of functionality, they can give odds to many competitors, even more expensive ones.

If there is a crisis of ideas in the field of smart watches, then there are no such problems with regard to fitness bracelets: it is clear that it is necessary to increase the capabilities and battery life, while keeping the price as low as possible. Apparently, Huawei was guided by such considerations when it released the Honor Band 3 bracelet.

The most interesting thing in the case of this model is the declared battery life: about a month! And this is in the presence of a screen (albeit black and white, small). We tested the novelty in detail in real life, checking the manufacturer's promises and understanding the quality of the implementation of the main functions.

Design

The appearance of the bracelet does not cause any emotions - neither positive nor negative. It is neutral and, in general, of little interest.

The main part of the bracelet is covered with transparent plastic, under which there is a miniature display, as well as a touch zone, with which the device is controlled.

The case itself is made of hard black plastic (and it is black in all versions of the bracelet). Strap halves are attached to the plastic on both sides. Judging by the tiny screws, the strap can be detached, but there is no point in this, since there are no interchangeable straps on sale, and you do not need to disassemble it to use the bracelet.

In addition to the screws, we see a pulse sensor and contacts for connecting the charging cradle on the back side. On the sides of the contacts there are recesses for fixing the cradle with the help of "lugs".

The strap is silicone, black (in the version we had; orange and blue options are also available), quite thin and soft, with a graceful pattern on the outer surface. However, it is almost impossible to see this pattern from the outside.

There are enough holes in the strap to conveniently fix the bracelet on an adult hand of any thickness. Fastening is carried out using a plastic fastener with two pins.

The screen is non-touch. The only control is a small circular area under the screen itself (see photo above). Touching it, you can scroll through the information on the screen and bring it out of sleep mode. In addition, the screen automatically turns on when a sharp movement of the hand towards you.

On the hand, the bracelet sits quite comfortably, you can sleep in it, play sports and even swim in the pool - Huawei Honor Band 3 is protected from moisture. In general, the design can be assessed positively, provided that we leave out the appearance and do not impose any aesthetic requirements on it. This is a typical "workhorse", created to perform certain tasks, and not to shape the style of the owner.

Screen

At first glance, it seems that the screen of the Huawei Honor Band 3 occupies almost the entire front surface of the bracelet, but this is an illusion: the body of the device is simply covered with transparent plastic. The size of the screen itself is approximately 24 × 6 mm. However, if you do not look closely, it is impossible to notice. The software interface uses a black background, so the eye does not see the real borders of the screen.

The screen is black and white, and its purpose is to display the simplest things: time, date, heart rate, battery capacity and Bluetooth icons, information about the distance traveled, calories burned, running and sleep duration.

For incoming calls, the ticker displays the name of the caller, for messages, a part of the recipient's name, and on the following screens, the first words of the message.

Smartphone pairing and settings

To use the device, you need to install the Huawei Wear app. It is available in both the Google Play Store and the App Store.

Pairing with a smartphone (we used the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone X) is seamless.

After a successful connection, the application offers to carry out the initial setup: enter your height-weight-age, specify goals for the number of steps or calories lost per day, allow or prohibit data exchange with Apple Health.

By default, data sharing is disabled, but we recommend enabling it, at least for those settings for which there are no other sources. For example, if you trust the smartphone's pedometer more, then there is no need to export data on the number of steps from Huawei Wear. But if, for example, you do not have other gadgets that track sleep phases, then you should move the slider next to the corresponding export option, making it active.

Application interface and functionality

The main screen of the application contains a summary of the main indicators - the number of steps taken and the distance, calories burned and climbs. By clicking on any item, you can see the details.

The big plus of the bracelet is the ability to automatically detect when a person was sleeping. That is, it does not need to be manually transferred to night mode before going to bed. There is also a smart alarm function. But fixing sleep and the number of steps / calories / distance are far from the only functions.

Of the most important - the capabilities of smart watches. In particular, the bracelet vibrates during calls, you see notifications and even the beginning of text messages. However, it is, of course, impossible to see the entire texts of SMS and messenger messages. So here you still need to understand what you need more - fitness options and convenience or a good screen with full text display.

If we talk about fitness options, then another important ability of the device is the measurement of the pulse, and it is also performed automatically, and the statistics are saved. In addition to everyday measurement, there is also a fixation of the pulse during training, and in the settings you can specify the need for a warning about overcoming the pulse threshold (by zones).

Since the bracelet has full moisture protection, you can swim in it, but we did not find information about the results of swims in the Huawei Wear app. And, apparently, there are still no detailed statistics here (unlike the same, for example).

Nevertheless, in terms of the combination of features, this is really one of the most functional fitness bracelets among inexpensive models.

Offline work

The manufacturer promises up to a month of battery life. From the very beginning, this seemed very implausible to us: previously, either very primitive devices could boast of such indicators, where, in fact, there was nothing besides a pedometer, or models with a tablet battery. However, although the actual duration of the Huawei Honor Band 3 turned out to be less than a month, we were still pleased with the results.

The bracelet will have to be charged no more than once every two weeks, and this is with regular use of it to view notifications. It is clear that a monochrome PMOLED screen consumes far less power than color LCD displays, but still there is also a vibration signal for calls and notifications. So two weeks without recharging is a very, very impressive result.

The declared month, apparently, suggests that we will use the bracelet in a more economical mode - for example, without regular heart rate measurements. Theoretically, this result may well be achievable.

conclusions

Huawei Honor Band 3 is one of the most functional fitness bracelets on the market. And at a price of less than 3000 rubles, it has practically no competitors: cheaper Xiaomi bracelets have much less features, and Garmin professional devices are much more expensive.

Perhaps the main quality of Huawei Honor Band 3 is the display of notifications with a very long battery life. In addition, you can note the measurement of the pulse, full moisture protection, training mode and a smart alarm clock. Of the minuses - a nondescript appearance, not the most attractive screen and software that does not fully reveal the capabilities of the device itself. The latter, however, is a fixable thing, so let's hope for updates.

Introduction

For a long time I wanted to write a short text about this or that fitness bracelet and say that this is another electronic toy for those who are fans of technology and, in principle, do not know why they need such a thing. However, after testing the Band 2 Pro, my opinion has changed a little, although I still consider the use of fitness bracelets for other purposes as stupid.

At the moment, Huawei Band 2 Pro costs just under 4,000 rubles. For the money, the fitness bracelet offers full protection against water and dust, built-in GPS, continuous heart rate monitoring and other fairly typical features. From the original, looking ahead, the operating time is up to 4 weeks in normal mode and up to 2 weeks in the most active mode.

Appearance

In my subjective opinion, the device is nothing unusual in terms of design. Almost all of these bracelets look the same: a black strap, a small screen, a plastic case, and so on. The Band 2 Pro gadget has two decorative metal inserts on the sides. By the way, there is a device with a bright red strap on sale. As far as I understand, it is possible to replace the strap, but for this you will have to unscrew two small screws near the main unit. I did not find additional colors even on Ali. However, it seems to be a matter of time.

The strap is made of pleasant to the touch material such as silicone (unfortunately, there is no more detailed information). The main thing is that during the testing I did not have an allergic reaction as a result of prolonged wearing of the bracelet.

The diameter of the circle that the strap describes is 40 - 70 mm. That is, the “watch” can be worn both on a child and on an adult with a fairly large wrist.

The fastening is very simple: two T-shaped metal pins go into the oval holes and securely fasten the two parts of the strap. For 4 weeks of active use, the mount never failed. If you want to constantly monitor your pulse (heart rate), then it is advisable to wear a bracelet higher - a couple of centimeters from the wrist.

For me personally, the main argument in favor of the Band 2 Pro was its miniature dimensions and weight of 20 grams. I didn’t feel the gadget on my hand at all, so it didn’t cause discomfort, unlike many other more “smart” watches on Android Wear.

The screen was not scratched during the test, the metal inserts remained intact. By the way, it’s worth noting that I didn’t spare Band 2 Pro at all: I washed my hands, swam with them and even made minor repairs in the bathroom (a couple of times I got tile glue, liquid nails and grout - I washed it and went on to work).

Sensor and power connector

small screen

The matrix is made using PMOLED technology and has a size of 22.38x5.58 mm (0.91 inches) with a resolution of 128x32 pixels. It displays time, workout settings, or animated prompts to help with breathing exercises.

There are no backlight brightness settings, although I would still have programmed it: the glow was a little annoying at night when I accidentally touched the touch button on the device case. Yes, I almost forgot to mention the touch button: it is small and oblong, it reacts either to touch or to a long hold.

In sunlight, the screen can be seen well, the information is readable. By the way, about her. The main screen displays the battery charge indicator (each division is approximately equal to 20%), Bluetooth connection, time and date, the number of steps taken. You can't change the layout.

The screen is activated either by touch or by a brush stroke (as if you want to see the time). Navigate through the menu by touching or sharply turning the wrist.

Working hours

As I already told you, I used Huawei Band 2 Pro for about a month. The numbers are as follows: if you activate all notifications from the phone on the bracelet, periodically turn on GPS, constantly monitor your heart rate (automatically about once every 1.5 - 2 hours) and sleep, then the fitness “watch” works up to 2 weeks without recharging. In a more gentle mode (without training with GPS and infrequent measurement of heart rate and sleep) - up to 3.5 weeks. But just like a Band 2 Pro watch, it functions for about 4 weeks. In fairness, it should be noted that the last two figures are based on tracking the battery discharge during the week in each case.

The bracelet is charged from a special miniature docking station with two contacts and a microUSB connector. Charging time is about an hour.

Working with the device

To actively work with the fitness tracker, you need to install the Huawei Health app and Huawei Wear on your smartphone. And when I just started using the watch, the Huawei Wear program was enough, and after updating the software, I also had to install Huawei Health. As a result, it turned out like this: in the first application - settings, and in the second - health tracking. Not too convenient.

I will not list all the parameters, the main ones are:

Huawei TruSleep. The function monitors your sleep and calculates its quality: the time of deep, shallow and REM sleep, the number of awakenings, the assessment of breathing and sleep itself on a 100-point scale, where 1 is bad and 100 is excellent. I tried this feature with Smart Alarm: you choose a wake-up interval (for example, 7.30 - 8.00 or 8.00 - 8.30), and Band 2 Pro should wake up in a 30-minute period when your sleep is in the fast stage. In theory, everything seems to be cool, but in practice, the bracelet woke me up at 6 or 9 in the morning ...

Automatic heart rate monitoring. Works flawlessly and is accurate enough. Specially measured even manually :)

Notification Management. We allow access to all available applications and receive notifications on the "watch". Information is displayed both from WhatsApp and from Telegram, mail, Twitter and so on in Russian by a running construction site.

Standard features on the device:

Steps. Displays information about the number, distance, calories burned.

Pulse. Hold the touch button for a long time and get heart rate information within 30 seconds.

Run. Distance and time, speed and heart rate are displayed. If the distance was less than 100 meters, then the result is not counted. In addition, the GPS on the bracelet is automatically turned on. It has an average accuracy and starts tracking coordinates after 1-2 minutes. It is better to wait for the GPS, and only then start the exercises.
